Newport Road Tesco Traffic Lights

Not sure why the lights are dangerous if people use them correctly. There are now no give way filters it is all lights, now it has been along time since I read the green cross code, but cars go on green and stop on red.
If pedastrians were not so lazy and went to the crossing instead of dicing with death by standing in the dual carriageway that area would be alot better.

I know the layout of some roads and lighting systems do not help, but in this area it is all lights even for the filter lanes in and out of tesco. Now if everyone applied the rules of the road I for one do not see the issue, there is no guess work 'when do I or do not go', as pain staking the lights are for congestion at times, they do the work for everyone if they are adhered to. Confused.

You're not wrong and the lights are dangerous as some (motorists and pedestrians alike do not adhere to this) Its a busy and fairly small junction for the traffic and pedestrians that passes through. We have seen many a vehicle who think they have 'time' to jump the lights and nearly knock folk over and visa versa when we have seen pedestrians nearly knocked over and a few actually knocked over due to stepping into the road when not using the lights correctly. We've had people through our doors (not customers) very upset at seeing this. In an 'ideal world' if everyone slowed down and used the lights correctly without hast then there would be less problem. With the best planning in the world congestion is always going to be present in any town/city. It part of living/working in a town environment.

I thought this thread was to do with the fact that the lights do not (or did not) change for people coming out of Tesco at night. Granted, it is a small junction with a lot going on.

In regards to the deliveries we receive, it would be fantastic if we could have this arranged but we are a very small part in the entire supply chain and to logistically plan the times when deliveries arrive is unfortunately a large aspect of our business that we cannot control. Our site is too tight to get the lorries on site therefore have no alternative than to utilise the space outside the dealership whilst unloading.

Whilst I fully sympathise with the situation you face, the fact of the matter is your company (or contractor) is parking ILLEGALLY on double yellow lines and is blocking traffic flow on a main route out of the town at peak times.

It should not happen, end of. I imagine that a few parking tickets will encourage your creative thinking on this.

Not meaning to be arsey on this, but its just not on, Stafford traffic at peak times is bad enough as it is without you or anyone else adding to it.

Loading/unloading is permitted on double yellow lines, where there are no yellow 'blips' on the kerb, before 11am, I believe, as long as it is continuous - i.e., no hanging about, do it reasonably quickly. HGVs are only allowed 40 minutes after 11am - again, in a continuous operation.

All we wish to say on the matter is that Randles is a thriving business still based in the wonderful town of Stafford. Providing jobs and adding the the county towns economy of which we are extremely proud to be a part of. Whilst others are unable/not willing to exist in this financial climate we as a group invested over £250,000 improving the atheistic look and functionality of the building. The site is not ideal for delivery but is a huge part of our business and without it we would cease to exist.

Thanks to all the people of Stafford for your support and for the odd few, we are sorry for your inconveniences during our delivery periods. The deliveries are not something we control as we are at the end of a long logistical line.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.

In relation to our staff. I have spoken personally to our General Manger of our Stafford site and an investigation has been carried out in regards to this. We welcome you to come into our dealership or call us straight away if anything like this is experienced. We pride ourselves on employing courteous, genuine, hard working people from our senior management team to the sales team to our valeters who all work exceptionally hard and are fantastic representatives of our business. Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Be assured your feedback is essential to our business both good or bad.

Thanks
Gemma

Yet again, during morning rush hour, delivery blocking the straight ahead lane going towards the Cinema, forcing all traffic into the filter lane for Tesco and stopping everyone each time someone wanted to turn into Tesco had to wait for the filter light (which is all the time!).

Sorry but you show a complete disregard, not only for the people who use that road at busy times, but also for the law. Next time, I will call the police as I fail to see why you should be above it.

A little consideration for road users and potential customers would see you ask the delivery driver to park the other side of the lights. It would still be illegal of course, but would at least allow people to get past on the redundant middle bit and not cause a tailback. But of course that would inconvenience yourselves by about 50 yards, and we can't have that can we...

Have to say that Randles are being disingenuous in suggesting they have no control over the disruption they cause. If some effort was applied it could quite easily be sorted. Logistics companies / hauliers the country over have to work round all sorts of restrictions and do. It isn't beyond the wit of man. Randles just need to apply some pressure.

Would it be possible for the delivery driver to park in the side road just before the Suzuki garage leading to the now fenced off side entrance to Tesco? That way the vehicles could be unloaded without the continued distruption to the traffic on the Newport road

Sounds far too much like common sense to me...... it'll never happen.
