But there already IS a KFC in Stafford! I've seen it and it's always f***ing empty! WHY DO WE NEED ANOTHER ONE? If you were that desperate to poison yourself then you could surely carry yourself the extra, ooh, 1/4 of a mile to feast on it's catastrophic carbuncular fayre.

Check out the KFC rant thread - eat in that particular outlet and you are likely to be very, very ill.

Although I recognise my own stupidity here - I don't know why I am convinced that this one will be any better.

All these franchises are run to a tight as hell budget employing managers with no standards managing apathetic youths who are counting down the clock til the end of their shift, no wonder the food is always dirtyguts with a fair proportion of you going there having rubbish customer experiences. YET YOU ALL STILL WANT MORE! Is Chrystal Meth one of the 11 spices? I can see that KFC obviously means a lot to you all out there, you're welcome to it. A friend of mine had a KFC once that had black bones, saying that it was usually like that. Has anybody else ever cooked a chicken that was of such poor quality that it had black bones?

Not quite, but I did have one of their basic chicken burgers once, which came with a vertebra neatly nestled inside :barf: that was some 15 years ago now.... I've never returned.
If I'm in town I only eat at Soup Kitchen or that sandwich shop on Crabbery Street, and steer clear of KFC/BK/Mc*

*Necessary when hungover.

Is it? Has always been full when I've been past*, or rather have a big queue anyway. Then one disinterested person at the till, with several yoofs lounging about at the back.

I think what you're missing here though is the fact that people want it. Look around Stafford, businesses are failing all the time. A thread posted yesterday about a new indian opening was met with the general consensus that it'll last 6 months. We have more empty shops now than ever before, because people aren't spending their money in them. Yet people want a new KFC. You can't easily make people buy what they don't want. Also, its location is out at a retail park. What do you really expect there amongst the other faceless companies, a traditional sandwhich shop? It wouldn't work, its not what people are after. They want fast food between shops, somewhere like the soup kitchen would be wholly innapropriate for the place.

Slag KFC off all you want, by all means, but you have to accept that its what people want. The current KFC is still there despite crap food, crap service and being completely out of the way. It has survived while places in town have failed, there has to be a reason for that. You say how can things get better, yet miss that this IS better to a lot of people. Not everyone (and not me actually), but certainly a sizeable proportion of the community.




*apart from the numerous occaisions they run out of chicken.

Im very fond of KFC and I remember when the old one was first done up, the anticipation and the sad long wait for it to reopen( the peeking through the plastic barrier to try and catch a glimpse.....) and the final celebration upon its reopening. The the inevitable fall from grace, the grunge build up over time, and lacksadasical emplyeees.... I live in hope that this one ( based on its more amicable locale) will remain a plesant place to be...

Aren't the KFC stores set up as a franchise? Each store or group of stores is owned by different people. McDonalds certainly works this way, with some stores operated by McDonalds UK and the others as franchises.

I don't understand. It's just dirty chicken. Who gives a rats ass? It's not like the F stands for Free Range or anything. It is filth of the highest order and is the greasiest, most horrid of any fast food.

Its what people want though? You may not like it, but unless you are willing to finance a different option then the most viable store is bound to be built. Some may not like it, but the majority will.

As I said before, Stafford has enough failing businesses. In the current climate, I can't see anyone taking a gamble on anything other than fast food in that location.

there was an ad in the job section of last week's Post looking for staff for KFC, at both the Hough and the North End outlets! hopefully they are aware that their current operation needs a stern kick up the behind to improve their image in Stafford, so will employ at least a few people who can spell their own names..

if they are looking for staff already, it can't be that long before we'll be shoving hot rods in our eager mouths :haw:

there's an article in this week's Chronicle, saying it is opening "this winter" :D

apparently it's going to create 25 jobs, so hopefully that means it will be well staffed and won't be the absolute travesty that is the current KFC Stafford.. pizza hut is due to open around the same time..

Yeah the old KFC is dirty lol, and anyway, I like queuing for 40 minutes all the way up as far as Esporta for a small portion of popcorn chicken :P
