Not wanting to be drawn into a for and against debate but do I take it we have a number of pro canabis forumites?
I'm puzzled by the "it does no harm" mentality, to be frank. And as for comparing it to alcohol, do me a favour!

You'd think they'd have better things to do, like stopping modified BMWs to give them a good inspection.

Yes, indeed. Nothing like using even more of the taxpayer's hard earned for yet more useless and time consuming activities serving absolutely no benefit to society whatsoever.

Gotta keep them stats up though eh?

Enjoying a drop of red.

In order to meet targets set by Government (both red and blue) yes. That is the way our elected leader choose to organise things. The problem lies with them, not the police.

There are many issues with policing that are nothing to do with political leadership and everything to do with the culture and attitudes endemic within police forces.

Do police have to enforce laws? Yes
Do police have to meet targets? Yes
Therefore should police arrest people breaking laws, to ensure they meet their targets?

Its pointless hating someone for carrying out their job, you should elect someone who will change their job instead. But you can't, because we only have blue or red and we recently voted to make sure no other party had a chance.

I wouldn't worry about that any more, the 'other party' has turned out to be as blue as the other two are...

Care to elaborate rather than being so vague?

Institutional racism, fitting people up / getting the wrong person, deaths in custody, deaths caused during pursuit, battering innocent people (e.g. Ian Tomlinson), ignoring crime, inciting riots, victimising certain groups.... That's probably plenty to be going on with.

Obviously the police would never arrest someone not breaking the law nor would they act illegally...

There have been clear cultural differences between the various constabularies throughout the UK over various issues - for example, Thames Valley were notorious for giving people grief over trailers when other areas could be traversed without any difficulty with the same vehicle. This is one of the problems which can be created when one doesn't have a single National Police Force.

Most arrests surely occur after the crime, therefore guilt is not known until evidence is tested. I suppose they could just let everyone walk free until after the court case with no chance to question people I guess?

I never said a copy wouldn't act illegally, every profession has bad practitioners.
