As there are several threads for specific pubs on here I thought I'd start a general pub thread for the rest.
I'll start the ball rolling with The George in Eccleshall, several times in the past I've sent beer back and could never understand why they can't keep and serve their own product correctly.
Had a quick couple in there last night and the Totty was spot on, a nice fire too, just what you want on a cold night.
Apart from The Railway, The Crown and occasionally The Spittall where else in Stafford has real fires and good beer?

With me not frequenting pubs all that often, I wouldn’t be able to comment...

5 miles out of town The Hand and Cleaver has two real fires and the beer is spot on - food the best in the region in my opinion, however, dunna goo next week as Cath and Trev are getting wed and taking a well deserved week off - re opens 30th November 6.30pm

Coal fired Sun...

Seems a bit back to front

Very pleasant experience though, supping ale, bum being warmed chatting to the charming bar person (f)

Only been in once this week and the was fire was not lit, thought it was a victim of the smoking ban.

With your name I guess you will have located a photograph of the Trumpet in Foregate St.
Closed 1940, pulled down later to make way for the new traffic Island Gaol Square

Did as planned and frequented a number of town centre establishments last night. Crown first on Yankee, then the Sun which was heaving, had a Steerage, followed by a Skinners Betty Stoges 'Big Sister' - 5.5%, phew! Chambers for some Beowolf, and a couple of Stone Cutters in the P&A and a return to The Crown. Worked it out that all the establishments combined we had a choice of 26 Real Ales!
