Well after 6 years the rats are back in the garden. The council now charge for visits (£55 for first 3)....

Has anyone out there had success removing them yourself and what methods/products did you employ?

Cheers

If you can't find the source you won't get rid of the problem, but a decent ratter may push them into other peoples gardens.

Likely to be bird food... Next door has said that some of her bulbs have been gotten at.... Also a replaced fence has given a gap from the neighbour on the other side....

To be honest with it being the Crossings I think they've always been there we've just never noticed them over the last 5 or so years

Why is this in the computers and gaming section? Or am I missing something?

As for rats, we suffer intermittantly as we keep rabbits and are near the allotments. Personally I'm terrified of the vile things, so I pay the council man to come. He's a very nice man and does a very good job. He comes until the rats have stopped eating the poison, which has been by the third visit for us so just the one charge. He uses a variety of poisons and is careful of where he sites it. I recommedn him to be honest

Shotgun might result in the armed response unit popping round sharpish baring in mind where @c0tt0nt0p lives!
You're pushing your luck with a lightsaber these days - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-35595103 .

And, bearing in mind that a copper tasered a blind man with a white stick because "he thought it was a Samurai sword", the potential for "understandable mistakes" is high - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-26729965 - anyway, that's OK now, as he's apologised (under orders).
