Hi everyone, I have just started a new group on Facebook (as title) that is a discussion group and soon to be paranormal investigation team, looking at Stafford and the rest of the Midlands. If anyone is interested in joining. I will keep this thread alive to for updates if anyone is interested but not a Facebook user.

With a name like that McGyver we need you.
I agree we may have to perform an exorcism on the delivery man for the safety of pizza lovers everywhere!
I plan to have us investigate anything and everything, be it having a nice lunch in The Swan and trying to flush out some ghosts or hiking over Cannock Chase searching for UFO's or those damn Werewolves. Who knows if we get a good team together maybe help some people too and make the team from most haunted look like the Scooby Gang.

So, it seems my Swiss jackknife is a valued tool for the expedition.
I also have torches, paper clips, rubber bands and chewing gums to engineer explosive devices.

Sadly, Cannock Chase is plagued with furtive deer hunters.
We could scare the hell out of them at night. Just brainstorming to whet our appetite.
In which pub do you have the volunteering sheet? I also happen to have a pen at hand...

Hope you have fun, but stay safe, and if you're out and about at night with torches, it's usually worth letting the police know.

(speaking from my misbegotten investigating youth)

Not a terrible amount worthwhile in Stafford itself, but if you head out and about there are some great sites.

I was thinking multiple pubs as they seem to be very and haunted and hunting is thirsty work.
Lets use those explosive devices on the deer hunters and use them as bait for the howlers!

On a more serious note don't worry Frontal before we go anywhere or do anything I inform the authorities and get the correct permission from property owners etc, I say I am a great believer in safety first but then I wouldn't be doing this would I. People forget the history of this scary town execution poisonings etc, all kinds of nasty things.

Here a link to our shiny new blog too.

I do believe the most frequently (purported) ghost sightings in Stafford are:

High House,
Bowling alley,
The plague pits sites,
Castle woods.

Personally I preferred out towards Leek, where there are some much more interesting and eerie sites.

Big problem with pub hauntings is that they have been got at by assorted psychics/mediums who have invented a load of garbage stories which people now repeat as authentic. These phoney stories have, in many cases, completely drowned out original accounts of peoples' real experiences

No I agree with you both Stafford is just going to be home base while we find our feet. Hopefully we can disprove some of what the phonies have said and we must remember not all drunks are delusional! lol

There is 'something' on my ward at St. Georges, but there isn't a cat in hells chance of you ever being allowed to have a nose. Personally speaking, I have seen a nurse in an old fashioned uniform, like my mum used to wear in the 1950s. Seen 'things' walking in and out of the main ward door. Heard someone shuffling their feet in the corridor at night when all patients have been asleep.

On the topic of this, does anyone know (@Withnail perhaps) if it's possible to organise a ghost walk around Stafford for Halloween? Could such a thing be organised?

organise a ghost walk around Stafford for Halloween?

Already imagining a bunch of us covered in a white sheet with chains, pumpkins, candles and a scythe. That is scary, but I do not think Stafford is ready for that
