The steak night has always sounded good, but Wednesdays are awkward for us, but the seabass night tops it for me.
Table booked already!

I may well come down and sample that. I must admit I tend to overlook the Swan when going out for a meal as it can be a bit pricey. I should say I got married at the Moathouse and I've also eaten in the restaurant a fair few times so I will shell out for quality. ;)

I've just found that every now and again I get a bit narked by some of the pricing. For example not serving chips with the burgers anymore in The Bear (used to go there quite often with the lads at work) and we have stopped having our family Sunday lunches in the Moathouse restaurant as we were being charged a lot of money for the children to eat (under 5's not teenagers). Shame that.

Evening grumpystaffordguy,

Great to be able to tell you that at some stage late last year we looked at all of The Bear offering and listened to relevant feedback on tripadvisor about the subject of chips and included them with the burger, so pop in and have a look at the revised menu.

With regards the children issue at The Moat House, I'll post again when I have looked in to what we have charged in the past, as clearly I perceive or would have hoped what we should have done, but from the tone of your tweet, clearly this hasn't been the case. Looks like a good portion of hummble pie is coming next.

Great thanks. I'm going out with the lads from work later this month so The Bear may well be back in favour then. In fairness when I moaned to the waitress about paying extra for chips she did look a bit sheepish and she said we could have 3 sides for the price of 2 which went down well (I suspect she was possibly in charge that day). It seemed like it was a common complaint. For what it costs to chuck a few chips on the side I do think its worth you doing it.

I must say I dont know the exact details of how much the kids were charged in comparison with the adults (possibly the same, eek). My grandparents pay for the entire family to go on special occasions and they said they objected to paying out so much for the little ones to eat.... I imagine 3 courses for 12 people including the bar tab was a fair bit of money!

Israeli cous cous you mean ptitim ( Hebrew) Its not cous cous but toasted pasta which shaped like balls of rice.

Any chance of a deep south slow cooking night. Pulled pork and slaw.

Apologies for the tardiness of this reply.....

Sunday Lunch Pricing at The Moat House, I'm unsure what happened on your past visit, clearly from your post we didn't get it right, however i can now confirm what our policy is with regards children..

we can grill, fry or boil them and charge the following..

under 3 years are free of charge

3 - 8 year olds £7.50 per child (3 courses) small portions from the Sunday lunch menu or children's menu

9 - 15 year olds £16.00

we would obviously be very keen for you to reacquaint yourselves with The Moat House, drop me an email and I'm sure I can make-up for your previous experience

oh and we haven't an oven big enough to grill, fry or boil children - bad joke!!
