Anyone had any experience of this, looks like a potential online addiction to me, so as a busy little beaver, with rugrats, and fingers in a number of :pie:'s (oooer!) its probably not for me! Can't help being intruiged though!

It begs the question "what's the point?", but maybe thats just it. I struggle in my own world tbh, and the fact there's 3million people inhabiting already quite frankly . . .MYSPACE does my head in, "oh, I'm this kind of person, I'm into . .blah, blah, I DON'T give a . . .So I just don't look . Anyhooo.

I agree with that. It's mostly full of egotistical prats who think they're the centre of the universe. (Saying that, I've got a MySpace account but it was in order to find old friends). I've had a look at Second Life because I read an article about it. It's quite interesting but I think mainly for people who have no other life.

Anyone read 'Snow Crash' by Neal Stephenson? It's basically about the same kind of virtual world, but was written in the late 80s (I think). Scared.

nah, that shiz was early 90s mang.. quality book.. i was an impressionable teenager when it was about, brought up on films like War Games, so i was well into the whole "cyberpunk"/hacking/phreaking thing..

there's an awesome 90s film about virtual reality gone bad, the name of which escapes me.. about people getting addicted to virtual reality experiences and pushing it underground, thus creating a black market where you can "buy" virtual experiences like rape, murder, etc.. i want to say Dark City, but that's an entirely different (albeit very farking good) film.. grrrrr, my grud damn brain :grr:

edit: just remembered!! Strange Days.. ruddy great film..

There was a Lynda La Plant drama years ago, that sounds similiar, wouldn't mind seeing that again.
