anybody here in the forum a lawyer that can help me? i'm seeking some advice

I got a letter through the post regarding a company that i have invested some money with a few years ago, now they have been shut down by the legal financial authorities and had their trading license agreement taken away from them.

and that i am owed a lot of money.

the letter states that as my money in kept in a escrow payment system (which the company has been using for all their trades) I would have to pay out £1000 to release the money from the escrow account and wait for 7 working days for the £1000 to be paid back to me.

now i just want to know is if this is a standard way of doing things? cuase surly they can just take my money out for me and they take their cut for their services :/

any help with this would be great.

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
I would not pay up front in order to get money I was owed. If there are any charges/commission that needs paying, the agent can take that out of your money when it has successfully been extracted.

Caution should be your watchword.

Any solicitor ought to be able to give you the correct advice. Seek it.

I know a Nigerian prince who would like to marry you.
Are you sure this company has been closed down? Have you confirmed this independently? Can you contact them (the company you invested in) direct?
It certainly sounds a bit dodgy to me.
