The County town is being systematically asset stripped piece by piece and not one of us can do anything about it.
They may as well rename the place Stokeshire and have done with it.
What i don't fully understand is why it isn't even, apparently, being considered as new housing for the recently evicted Staffordshire Arts & Museums Services collection, ex of Shugborough?
The Council needs somewhere to house its collection in the wake of the NT taking over Shugborough at exactly the same time that it needs, again apparently, to 'repurpose' the Shire Hall. The timing would appear, at least from the 'outside', to be a stroke of serendipitous fortune, would it not?
And yet i understand that the SAMS 'stuff' is to be similarly 'mothballed' - bunged into a warehouse somewhere. Some of it, no doubt, thence to suffer the Curse of the White Lion...
Warehousing isn't free if you don't own the warehouse.

let'sI agree with that, at times it does feel like it by SCC especially. Why on earth does the New Vic Theatre get funding ???
The Shirehall should an assest to the town and the county IF used properly.
County Cllrs represent the county which is why I am baffled Cllr Parry was not pulled up when debating the Shirehall a couple of months that his constituents (somewhere near Codsall) don't care 2 hoots about the shirehall.
What has his constituents got to do with the shirehall or county town...bloody idiot.
You think that will stop them ?never mind - the bright side is that there is not more to destroy -
Christ Church was abandoned and subsequently knocked down for housing - there was a church in Derby Street, by the Station that was also redeveloped - and the Wesleyan Chapel was mostly demolished for the Market (and the tower very nearly went 'by accident'). One has to wonder if St Mary's and St Chad's are totally invulnerable? You think that will stop them ?
Top of Gaol Square, where the Beth Johnson old folks' place is now.where was Christ Church ?
