Apart from the two over the road from the Swan, is there anywhere else in Stafford that heels shoes ?
(Got ripped off once in the one on the corner by Superdrug, so that's definitely out)

The one next to the old Moben showroom, opposite the back of the Stafford Department Store....

....although last time I asked, it worked out cheaper to buy a new pair of boots rather than have them re-heeled!

There's one in Prince's Street - at the back of the old Co-op store - but they may all be Timpson's branches..

Dang it...

Wasn't sure whether that was still there, but as you say they seem expensive. I priced up key-cutting there years ago and ended up not bothering.

Yeah, noticed that Timpsons had 2 in town when I googled it.

Johnsons dry-cleaners on the island came up as well. Just said 'repairs' so not sure if that means they'd do a simple re-heeling job.

Didn't there used to be a cobbler in the indoor market hall at one time?

You would imagine that Stafford would have a few skilled cobblers about - the ones that I knew have all passed on..

Should have had them done in Liverpool the other week whilst up there.......... commented on how many there were and decent prices too , but only noticed my heels had worn down so much when we got back home!

Will price Timpsons up on Saturday whilst in town .

Yes there are 2 Timpsons in town - I think they offer a service where as if you buy a certain brand of sole it comes with a lifetime guarantee where if it runs out again you can get it replaced for free (so If you have boots you intend on keeping for a long time then may be worth it - but also have to hold onto receipt)

I have used the one on the corner near Superdrug many a time - as I preferred to give my cash to them as they were local rather than Timpsons the chain - but yes I have been ripped off my them before - it tends to be who's in the shop that day to what price you pay - right bloke you get a good deal

I'm a prolific boot wearer and grumble about getting them resoled every year!

I have a much loved pair of court shoes reheeled and soled recently and cost me £15.99 I think, which was only £5 less than i paid for the shoes in the first place, but for a much loved pair of shoes it was worth paying the cost

:lorks: Will take shoes down on Saturday morning and price it up before deciding whether it's worth it or not. They are comfy for high heels though , hence the heels wearing down with being able to walk miles in them :hmm:

Keep your fingers crossed for me that the right bloke is in there this weekend ;)

There's a very good cheap one in Chadsmoor

Thanks, Just given the street view man a walk down there. Will give them a ring if the Stafford prices are extortionate on Saturday.

I've a few pairs of Barkers that, when they need repairing, I take to Blacks on Mill Street. They go back to Barkers and come back soled, heeled, relined, cleaned and with new laces. Almost new shoes, whilst it's not the cheapest option, I think it was about £50 last time, it's cheaper than new shoes of comparable quality. I've got one pair I've had almost 20 years that have been done about 4 times.
Having said that, for everyday work shoes it's TK-Maxx £25 jobbies, get 12-18 months out of 'em and sling 'em, probs cheaper than a Timpson sole & heel job.

Well, decided to get a bit more wear out of them to make it worth it. For about 1/2" squared heel........

Harveys , by superdrug, £7.95

Timpsons £8.95

Then when dropping donations off at the Cat Protection stall in the market, noticed a shoe repairer on the next stall - "Could be £10"

I had a pair of shoes I've fallen in love with rehealed recently at Harveys plus a boot which is older than me repaired where the sole had come away. it cost £8 [something] for both! I thought this was very reasonable! Not tested the boot yet (I had it "fixed" by timpsons a couple of years ago and it immediately fell apart and just got round to trying again) but the other shoes are excellent!
