Clearly a bank holiday as I found myself wondering about getting a new tattoo! I have a couple, I'm interested in what tattoos ther people have, any meanings and where they were done?

And if you don't have any are you thinking of getting one? Hate them? Find them disgusting? Not allowed cos of your job?

Basically a thread for everything ink!

I'll start! Has this one done earlier this year in Liverpool. Its Japanese Cherry Blossom which in Japan signifies the ephemeral nature of life (Femininity in China) the black kanji says my daughters name and the red kanji says 'Mother'. My daughter painted the original design and I love it! It's in my inner forearm and the picture was taken immediately after it was completed.

This is on the top of my left arm, I had 3 black cats at the time, sadly down to the one now. The paw prints represent the 4 cats we've had in this home. Puss, Boots, Sooty & Sweep. I'd like another black cat somewhere, with another 4 paw prints underneath. I had this done at Inkpot Galleria By Heather.

This one was for my Mum and 2 sisters. It's on the top of my right arm. Mum and the older sister shared the middle name Rose. My little sister is called Blue. This was done at Raymondos in Stone, many moons ago. Sadly Ray Jones passed a few years ago now, lovely man.,

Love the little cat one, not that I don't like the other one, I do! I have a soft spot for tattoos with meaning.

I have a dragon, no pictures to share though as its in a bit of a private place (not my bum or boobs). I had it in my late 20's when I was especially horrified at the thought of turning 30 and got all rebellious and had that & several piercings.

I had a piercing in an area only seen by 1 other person than myself, it came out in bed one night, healed over quicker than you can blink. Never had it redone.

Because..?
I just don't like the look of them.

Like I don't like nose/ lip/ tongue piercings.Makes my stomach churn seeing them.
I have got my ears pierced though ( Only then because all the girls at work had it done when I first started , and I got dragged along with them one lunchtime. A very vivid memory of the old wooden brown chair in the jewellers inside the arcade by the old market entrance, where I was plonked on after fainting waiting my turn )

Fair enough. I'm not keen on all tattoos or piercings, depends on the subject and location! The piercings in tongues make me wretch, I find them disgusting!

Prince Albert was ahead of his time as regards body piercings though history probably hasn't recorded whether or not his wife was amused.

That was Mann the Jewellers. Had my ears pierced there December 31st 1974. My 11th Birthday. No gun in those days, she spray sumat on the lobe and pierced it with a needle.

I have technically 3 tattoos but it looks like 2. I have a pretty butterfly on my left upper arm and a weird nasty flower thing that I accidentally got but was too timid to say I didn't want underneath it. On my right upper arm I have a cute puppy that was my first tattoo It was done 24 years ago about this time of year I think. Unfortunately some years later Disney bought out My Friends Tigger and Pooh and from then on everyone thought my puppy was Buster and no one believes he pre dates the Disney one. I don't have photos as yet but will get someone to take some at some point. I managed to hide them from my disapproving parents for a couple of years. They only found out via a sleeve malfunction that one of their friends saw and although I got them to agree not to tell them they pretty much went straight out and told them. Although I was 26 at the time they found out I was reminded from the hours of disgust, disappointment and lecturing I got why I'd hidden them in the first place.
I would like more but I just can't afford to have one and no one wants to buy me one as a present.

I need my ears re piercing and will get that done maybe this year. I have lots of earrings including some vintage ones bought by my Dad I can't get in. My first holes, done by gun up Walsall market when I was 9, healed up thanks to not being allowed them in in school. My first re-piercing was done by my mum's friends Dr, who did it as a side gig. He used a bit of jabby anaesthetic and a needle. Sadly he didn't get quite the right place and the old and new piercing cross in the middle leaving me with one hole at the front and 2 holes at the back that are awkward to navigate and got traumatised each time I tried to navigate them so the backs healed over. This time I want a proper piercer to do it with a needle and put labret's in so I can sleep in them. (after surgery I've very little space between my ear lobe and neck) so the pointy backs are uncomfortable and with annoyingly bouncy dogs I daren't have hoops.
