Sky+ controller.

In the recent Cresswell burglary, the Sky+ remote controller was amongst the items stolen. A new one has been procured, but none of the volume controls work, not +volume- nor the mute button. Everything else is OK. Is it feasible that some control has locked this function out, or is it more likely that the device is just knackered. The LED on the controller lights when the volume buttons are pressed, but the LED on the box itself does not light when the volume controls are used. Just wondering if there is some way round this. I will see if I can procure another controller to try on the box.

The volume buttons on a Sky remote control the volume function of the tv set. A new remote will need to be programmed to operate the specific tv model - see instructions here.

Right. She couldn't find any paperwork - so I'll have a go at that. I did find a sort of master volume in the menu, which led me astray. Thanks for that.

You are probably referring to me. However, the stop button on one of my Betamax's remotes has ceased working :( I may have to blow some dust out of it or something!

...I fixed my other Betamax's rewind mechanism with an old rubber tap washer.

OK, it's done - at the sixth attempt.

She had found the paperwork for the new controller, and the instructions were similar, but different, to those provided above.

In the old days tellies had a volume knob - and they all turned the same way.
