St George's Mansions

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I'd have to live in 'The West Wing' if I ever bought one of those flats.

Looks dam good from the video and plans, I'm pleased that they
are keeping the main entrance steps and columns, I really thought
that it would all be knocked down as unsafe and used for crappy modern flats.

I gotta say, I've got a good vibe about this estate.

It'll become one of the "posh" parts of Stafford.

Affordable housing indeed!?

I'm sort-of disappointed so far, the penthouses aren't very penthouse. The floor plans at least offer no indication they're going to be any other than generic 3 bedroom new build flats, they seem to barely scrape 1000 square feet in size. Hopefully there'll be something that makes them worthy of the £300,000 price tag, or the unreleased apartments will be superior.

The building doesn't actually appear to have a penthouse, so one can only conclude that the use of the term is merely marketing fluff anyhow...

£300k for a small 3 bed flat off a dual carriage way in Stafford. Who would be stupid enough to pay that ?
No doubt the interior is all replastered with cement and gypsum rather than lime. I can see a whole host of future owners complaining about damp and how that's that is is with older properties instead of facing the fact that the build didn't use conservation techniques. Maybe I'm wrong but I've seen too many solid wall, grade II and grade II* buildings spalling and falling apart due to the use of imperiable modern materials like cement and gypsum. Old properties need to breathe, stop water leaving via lime and watch your building decay.
