Stafford Castle.

Wildwood park would also be a good site for a decent cafe. The park has a lot of facilities now, free parking and they have youth football there (lots of parents wanting a brew). There is some sort of "kiosk" but it's been closed for ages.

Although I agree on the religion thing, I know these plans were mulled over several years even pre-convid, so regardless of their inclination, still a valiant effort

Well, you'd hope the council would realise they're missing out on income? They don't have to do it themselves, let someone rent it. Of course the one problem is the vandal situation, Wildwood park is accessible night and day. But it's a much quieter spot than the town centre.

Ahh while the site is historically interesting, that current castle is as Giles says: 'a dogs dinner.' I played on the ruin as a kid, then the two front towers were still standing. Following an horrendous death, because the bloody thing was jerry built anyway, it was made safe. Really not that interesting historically.. Rip all of that out, and try and reconstruct the original Norman construct (if there's enough information possible.) Now that would be interesting.

If only it were possible to get a cup of tea, or coffee, or de-caff coffee, or biscuits, or perhaps a cheese pasty, a steak pasty, a sausage roll, maybe even a lemon drizzle cake, or perhaps even a flapjack, dare i say maybe even a price-jacked Freddo at the Visitor Centre at Stafford Castle...?

We can but dream.

Nice to know that the Councillors have their fingers on the pulse.

It's always entertaining to listen to people who think that opening a 'caff' would be some sort of goldmine. Especially when they want to do it with someone else's money - want to stump up some of your own? Didn't think so.

Go to Lichfield Beacon Park on a weekend, you'll see loads of people sitting outside drinking coffee. The same for Cannock Chase Marquis Drive (people even pay to be in the car park there) and its coffee shop. Stafford Park has a nice coffee shop despite the lack of peace and quiet there.

Doesn't have to be taxpayer funded. The land could be leased and then let someone build a cafe/unit for rent.

And tomorrow (and tomorrow) -

Creeps in this petty pace...

Had my shot, blew it.

But yes, tomorrow.
