Stafford Cinema - ups & downs.

Capacity won't matter at the new cinema if they go for comfort/experience over cramming people in. They have to do something to get people going again vs just downloading so improving the experience would be a great start. Said it before but VUE in newcastle is excellent with the new large seats.

And they recline...lovely

I'm not a regular cinema going, however whenever I do go it's not to Stafford.

I've been to Odeon Stafford twice in the last decade.

I am looking forward to the new cinema. It's long overdue.

I just hope they have the D-BOX seats at the new cinema. I went to telford cineworld again last night to watch the new star wars in the D-BOX seats, it makes the whole experience so much better. Ill be pretty annoyed if they just go for bog standard screens and cheap seats at stafford.

I'd be staggered if they did have DBox seats....I would of thought IMAX would of been more of a priority and I don't think they are having that in the Stafford Odeon... If they have seats equivalent to the Stoke Cineworld I'll be happy

I've just looked at the Odeon website and they only currently have DBox seats at 2 of their cinemas (MetroCentre and Liverpool one), so I'd be prepared to get annoyed....

Reasonably sized screens, decent sound, comfy seats, heating that works and A/C, tidy and no smell of urine will suit me just fine.
I went to Uttoxeter to watch The Last Jedi.

Under some duress - i'd rather not have driven for half an hour, but...

All of those criteria were met - especially the sound, like, OMG! - so its a 'yes' from me  , to have that sort of arrangement ten minutes down the road.

Not really too much to ask, is it?

Thanks for the heads up about Uttoexer Cinebowl - what a gem of a cinema
We went there many moons ago to watch a Bond film and were shocked to see the locals walking into the screen room with pints etc !! Twas a bit of a shock to the system...

Millar Sandy have been instructed to market The Stafford Cinema, Newport Road, Stafford, by the freeholder, Eros Properties Limited. Built in the 1930s as an Odeon in a style typical of the time, the property is prominently situated at the south end of the town centre close to the new Riverside leisure development and provides three screens with a total seating capacity of 610. Subject to the appropriate planning consent, the building would be suitable for alternative entertainment uses including a nightclub, restaurant or bar and is available for either purchase or lease with an asking guide price of £750,000. The property includes two small retail units which have been producing a rental income of £14,500 per annum by way of sub-lettings.
I would like to have a cineworld in stafford.

Went to the Eccleshall Community Cinema for the first time last week. In the function room above The Royal Oak. Decent sound, a bar, no chavs and only a fiver to get in. As a non cinema goer I have to say it worked for me. Going again soon to see Dunkirk.

I remember many moons ago going to a pub in Church Eaton which had a cinema room. I have no idea what the pub was called and haven't been to CE for nearly 20 years.

I do remember it being a great idea.

I know The Royal Oak (the only pub still open) had a little theatre in the back, where they used to do comedy shows. The Swan closed about 20 years ago which is the other possibility.

Was disappointed when I went, sound was dreadful. Music in movie was loud but actors talking was almost inaudible.

When you can go to the odeon at festival park for a fiver........it is a rip off and the was not an enjoyable experience I am after.

The red carpet place at barton under needwood is the way to do this sort of thing properly

It is a room above a pub in a country village. It is not claiming to be the Odeon Leicester Square.

I'm fairly sure that the Royal Oak used to do films as well as comedy shows.
