its the freedom of speech this forum is promoting...

Whilst we do indeed provide a platform for anyone to air their views, free from bias, we are not here to serve any one person's agenda. As others have pointed out, your only posts on Stafford Forum are wildly negative and frankly offensive remarks aimed at Stafford FM and the people putting in effort to get it off the ground.

Please refrain from further unnecessary vitriol; I shall simply delete it. And before you fly off the handle accusing me of censoring you or treating you unfairly, you have said your piece now and I think it is fair to say nothing productive would come from further such posts, hence the decision.

It's an entire thread in it's self. ... I'll leave you all to drag this back on topic.

Indeed. Let's all do just that.

Many thanks. :)

No idea what's going on but it sounds like there's been a parting.

I left the station in July, well I say left, I was told to leave because I dared to speak out and was then accused of 'not being a team player'.

I worked there pretty much 7 days a week for an average of 10 hours a day, I personally took in a lot of equipment (PC's, mixing desks, microphones etc). I even paid for things when it first started to get the project moving.

When I left I was verbally (and almost physically) attacked for taking what was mine and accused of being 'childish'. As I said I was 'told' to leave. (I still have the email if anyone wants proof!)

I am STILL owed money or equipment or both.

I was never 'paid' and as far as I'm aware neither was anyone else, would like to know where unkillabill gets his info from? Enlighten us?

From my experience the project was badly run from the start (I tried to stay out of that, eventually speaking out was my downfall!!). Money did come in but it was always spent needlessly (equipment etc) and debts (including mine) were never repaid. In fact if you ever asked for anything you were owed it sparked an argument!

Other crazy schemes such as 'get everyone to pay £10 a week into the funds if they want to work here' (I hope) never materialised!! Hmm, work for nothing and pay for the pleasure??

Community radio will NEVER be an earner, that's not why people do it?? Even with a full time license the governing body would not allow Stafford FM or any other station to pay staff. Community=volunteers. Only a percentage of income can be generated from adverts, the rest has to be donations.

In my opinion (and it is my opinion, don't anyone get on your high horse here) I think there were people at the start who thought this could be a nice little cash cow. It hasn't proved that way and now everyone is blaming everyone else for the failure.

I still keep in contact with a couple of people from there, I ask no questions, I know nothing, but I continue to support the project and wish them every success.

You are not banned, and I never claimed as such; I simply said that you had made you point (several times over), and unless there were any new points to be raised I would minimise repetition by removing any aggressive posts that were not contributing further to the discussion.

Yes, there are listening "chances" away from Stafford FM - we have done everything we can do get Stafford Radio involved, for example, but they have so far not chosen to take part in the discussions here - but that is moot. My post was simply saying that you are bringing nothing but negativity (very specific, targeted negativity) to The Forum, and it is my job to ensure that this doesn't broach the boundaries of harassment.

Feel free to join in with all the other discussions here on Stafford Forum, but any other pointless muck-throwing at Stafford FM from you will be dealt with.

Thanks.

Getting back on track - does anyone know when the 'listen online' thing will be available again? I like having the radio on in the background when I'm working.

What terrible timing.

Thanks for taking the time to give an insight (refreshingly free of insinuation and splenetic spattering) Mr. B - much appreciated.

And now no Comedy Club. :(

Here's hoping they can get their act together. :)

How do I edit this?
I asked around in the pub this evening and it sounds as though there's been a falling out between the production staff and the owner of the Marston Road building. No one seemed to know much more than that, although there were some who speculated the lack of any rent on the place may have been the cause...

Im not trying to stir a pot here, im just speaking my mind.

Everyone agreed at the start of this project it was a going to be a long term effort. We all knew it wasn't going to earn any money, if at most a basic wage for full time volunteers. This project was set up to bring something special to Stafford, not to be a "cash cow". Stafford FM was aiming to be more than just a radio station. We were on track at one point, now sadly it seems people have lost heignsite and its took a turn for the worse. All I will say is I'm very disappointed with individuals who I thought were, not just fellow volunteers, but people id call friends. Quite hurt at how people can be so two faced, and abuse good peoples very kind natures. Theres no need for such behaviour. There's a well knowing saying that goes "well that's radio." Honestly? Rather not be associated with such poor attitudes.

Any work I've done for them has also been / being removed, I.e the annoying jingles, advert music, show themes. Not out of spite, but for other serious reasons. However all this doesn't affect the recording studio. Just means I'm rather lonely in the building!

Anyway, I hope the project dosent turn to ash. Too long has been spent working hard on it. Please dont let blind foolishness get the better of you. It's not about YOU at the end of the day. It's about the people of Stafford and doing something special for them to be a part of. Good luck.

We are not aiming to be another commercial radio station... Each service should compliment each other and are designed differently to cater for all tastes and needs. The ethos of Stafford FM is to provide an informative platform for the community to be involved in.
In light of that, may i use this platform to plea for the reinstatement of both of the shows mentioned above?

I don't know how much exposure you have had to either, but both seem, to me at least, to
a) be unlike something you would hear on a commercial radio station
b) (be) designed to cater for different tastes
and
c) provide the platform you mention - particularly the Comedy Club, which with its 'gig guide' is both informative and supportive of the comedy acts that feature strongly in the Gatehouse programme.

It can certainly be said that Mr. Halden is both evidently knowledgeable and engagingly enthusiastic on air - his loss is surely not the station's gain? And Mr. Eames provides this badger, at least, with an oasis of contemplative chaos (if you pardon my oxymoronicness) that i will miss dearly.

If i have grasped the wrong end of the stick and they were missing for other reasons i apologise in advance. But if they are to go, i would be interested to at least know why?

but when the titanic set sail the captain was full of confidence as well

I think it's important in this situation to point out that Edward Smith, Captain of the Titanic, was due to retire upon completing the ship's Maiden Voyage. This, coupled with the fact that he would later be portrayed on TV by David Calder a.k.a. Nathan Spring from 'Star Cops', probably produced a feeling of melaise and ennui in the 62 year old, and not confidence.

Very disappointing thread and sad to see Stafford FM falling apart. I hope that all the good parts of it can re-form and try again!

A few directors have indeed resigned, however Stafford FM will continue. There's going to be a restructure under new management to get the project back on the right tracks and it should be back on air in the new year as there's a lot to sort out.

I'll keep you posted when I hear more.
