£20m now secured from government for Stafford Station Gateway project
The £20m is part of the Levelling Up Funding and has been granted by Central Government for Staffordshire County Council & Stafford Borough Council to use for this project.
The proposals include a new hotel, up to 900 new homes, commercial space, leisure facilities and a multi-storey car park with 350 spaces. This project is on the brownfield land around the Stafford railway station.
The plans will create 7 new neighbourhoods – Station West, The Hollies, Lakeside, Castle Engine Works, Marling Terrace, Wicketgate & Doxey Road.
The plan is that in 2040 the Stafford Station Gateway will be a thriving, vibrant new community where people want to live, work and visit, sustainably connected to Stafford Railway Station

Whilst all is investment is welcome I'm surprised at the 900 houses, surely no investment is needed for those unless they are to be council housing?

Apparently royal mail carpark is full of asbestos, which is why staff & customers can no longer park there.....staff have to park at m&s

so little new; reiterating information already released and advertised in media! E.g. Plans for a hotel on the rugby pitch! At least college extension Iis looking clos to being finishin & of course the houses were finshed on the 2nd & 3rd pitches have been occupied for a couple of years. I'm being impatient! What's happening with the old M&S, old Market, old Co Op, the whole North End of Town? ....... .... STAFFORD RANGERS?

The illustration shows the original listed building, built between the wars for customs clearance of overseas parcels I believe, still in place and pedestrians wandering around it but all the other now essential buildings gone.
