Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Flat roof building. I don't know what the roof is like but that heatwave can't have done it much good.

I went in yesterday to see if they had any walking boots that I liked and whilst there I asked one of their staff what was happening.
They are closing but only for a day or so and then being rebranded as Go Outdoors.
Good news is there will still be an outdoor clothing and equipment shop and an occupied shop in that location, bad news it will probably be more expensive.

Oh and boots that were c£50-60 when I looked a few weeks ago are now over £80 even with 30% off.

GO Outdoors, which specialises in outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment, is opening 13 new express-style stores.
These smaller, high street-style stores represent an expansion of the GO Outdoors estate, following an extremely successful couple of years for the retailer.
The new stores will enable shoppers to pick up specialist outdoor clothing and equipment in convenient high street locations. Although the stores are more compact than traditional GO Outdoors super-stores, a full range of stock will be available to order for collection via in store ordering, including tents and camping equipment, fishing, equestrian and climbing equipment. Each store will stock a variety of brands, such as Rab, OEX and Berghaus, as well as trusted brands like Peter Storm, HiGear and Brasher. Store colleagues will also be on hand to offer expert advice and provide services like boot and rucksack fitting for customers.

I hate Go Outdoors, all that card nonsense to get the advertised prices. No card, very overpriced.

It has a shop attached so I suppose it goes here, but Slater's brewery it's self is closing -
It's a tough market right now for the smaller businesses. They found a good way to get out of it without bankruptcy so I don't blame them. If pubs actually sourced locally it would be great but they all get mass produced beers via their chain company.
It would at least mean each area of the country would have different beers. There would actually be a point to travelling and visiting a pub somewhere away from home. This goes back to the discussion about the high streets all being the same shops.
Of course, Bod in Bodmin Drive does have locally produced beers, I just find Titanic beers a bit meh. Apart from Plum Porter.

The days of going to the Morris Man on a lunchtime are long gone for me sadly. Many companies have a "no daytime drinking" clause in their contract these days and I work from home these days. But it supposedly does very good Indian food.

Yes, the "no daytime drinking" clause means it's not worth the Morris Man opening till 4pm, 2.30pm Saturdays and Sundays, and many other pubs are the same.
More Nepalese than Indian food but, yes, it is very good.,

The last time I day drank, was the one and only time in the 90s that I had secured a babysitter for new years eve (single parent at the time).....finished work at 12 midday, went for a few drinks with work (compulsory), home to change and meet friends in Stone for new years eve......only guess who fell asleep....4am I wake up..whole night missed.......NEVER DAY DRINK

We've had a no drugs and alcohol policy in place since the mid 90s and it's a lot lower than the drink driving limit.
One of the things I noticed as a result of the different design sections no longer meeting over a pint (not a piss up by the way) at lunchtime was that there were a lot of uncoordinated designs.
For example the cabling section would design their fibres to be terminated in one location and the transmission section would design their kit to be installed in a different location.
