Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

Milk life: Just thought I'd add a couple of tips for prolonging the life of milk ... After pouring milk, squeeze the container to expel as much air before replacing the cap (rather like one of those self-collapsing wine boxes works).

Difficult to do with the glass bottles our milk is delivered in.

Dairy in Cambridge used to have a big sign on the wall that advertised Bull's Milk. Ir was once owned by a Mr Bull

I see that Pretty Things has now gone - (so, it would seem my information was correct, despite being told I was lying before Christmas). Whilst around that area - just how long can the Millets "Closing Down Sale" and the old Co-op "Major Refurbishment Sale" continue?. I can only imagine that Millets are using Stafford to clear out all its crap from the whole area. Either that or the footfall is so low that they are simply not selling anything.

Nobody said you were lying. Just to get your information correct, which you still have not got

I think the decline started in that area when that superb Pandora shop opened in the town

If you would like to pop round to the back of the shop you can see the sign we have taken down and perhaps get it right this time haha.
The decline of footfall in that area started when Pandora opened that wonderful busy shop in the busy part of the town. Then Marks and Spencer went, now Dorothy Perkins have gone. to pastures new. Life goes on ..........

so perhaps the name is slightly wrong, I apologise. The shop has gone - possibly because the name was so forgettable:roll:, but more likely because the town didn't support you as they should have done.:( Actually feel quite sorry. You tried hard but the town did nothing to help - the rates there are stupidly high, and the pop up shop just before Christmas was a kick in the groin. You have a right to be bitter and you won't be the last around there to move to pasture new.
Pandora opened the new shop after taking/not renewing/not offering the contract to the old owners. That, in itself could be a whole new thread

Not bitter. Just relieved. Stafford did not want a shop like ours I appreciate that. It is surprising how many Stafford people have always come over to our other shop and obviously prefer to travel there than travel into Stafford town. New customers we picked up in Stafford are coming over !! To anyone trading in Stafford I really wish all the best as I have lived in Stafford all my life and have all my family living in Stafford, so wish all traders success. I am back in my comfort zone.

Well there is also a case of the market requirement was saturated in the town centre with similar offers - wh smith, clintons, card factory and that other one in the guildhall, that's before your look at supermarkets. I am surprised all the aforementioned are still operating to be honest.

Somethings aren't sustainable when there options and at times cheaper alternatives and location can be relative I always think of the days of the town centre video shops, in stafford you had videoworld, video action came and the former went.

Along came the video outlet that is now bath store and its free parking ...then went video action. It is with a heavy heart that sometimes even in retail there is a circle of life.

Possibly......Google told me Browning St, I know where I mean....which is no help to anyone else!
Fine Things seems to be in Browning Street, according to Google - in the old Surgery?

The shop they're talking about above was in Stafford Street, which is where Millett's is.

Yell still gives it in Stafford Street.

You know where I mean too!

Stafford town centre street names are confusing, even when I worked on Greengate Street I didn't understand why its name changed half way down & why its not called High Street?!
