Brantano is nice and useful - I wonder why those white goods randomly appeared in that unit for a while.

Sometimes people do things like that to avoid a place looking so deserted?

Think a deal fell through some signs were updated with the new shop, then it was removed a few months later. Was listed as The Drop.

It's a slightly curious combination, and a big space to fill.

The Burton store has the following scant info on what it will sell:

Our Lambretta Outlet & Brantano Store is now open for business in Burton Upon Trent. A mega store combining Lambretta clothing & footwear all at discounted prices and familiar Brantano brands such as Osaga,Stone Creek,Caravelle and many more.

My guess would be Lambretta up stairs, Brantano outlet downstairs.

I was wondering why anyone would need clothing for a scooter then thought it must be to disguise them so nobody sees what you're riding :)

The old Bewise unit has been let. Interesting to see who takes it on.

The Bewise I remember was opposite the old Argoose, next door to Home Bargains.

I guessed wrong, all on the bottom floor, I'd say 2/3 Lambretta related merchandise and 1/3 shoes, if that - not a lot of choice on the Brantano Outlet side of things.

I had an appointment at Cannock Hospital today and while I was over there, popped into the McArthur Glen outlet. Posh, tidy, functional, but a number of closed shops with probably a few waiting to shut after their businesses made announcements of cut backs.
Some things struck me. I started marketing 18 months ago, so I looked at lots of things from a different angle - layouts, displays, how busy some places were and how empty others were. Then, what do I want or what do I need? I've never been materialistic and now I it appears I am even less so. The businesses I work with aren't those that "just sell stuff" and I'm proud of who I represent. Then, there was returning to Stafford and noticing things that now really stand out - the blank skyline where GEC/Alstom/GE used to be, then turning onto the road to take me round The Hough and noticing the dark, but letter less spaces, where the Pizza Hut sign once was but is now an empty unit. Then coming round Queensway and seeing a shiny new McDonald's Drive Thru and a few yards further on you are faced with the exterior of Gaolgate Place. While the recent addition of signage in the windows has brightened it up, it still strikes local folks as a huge empty box!

We look elsewhere and see what has been done and must realise we have massive potential but it won't happen quickly. Maybe we should invest as much locally as we can and that, in turn, keeps it in our economy?
