Other nations have better weather than us, better infrastructure. The UK's problem is it is massively overcrowded. England's population density is ridiculous and only getting worse.

Is it? If we were overcrowded wouldn't public transport work better, rather than constantly cutting bus routes? Crowded places can justify better infrastructure, our problem is customers are secondary to shareholders.

It's difficult to catch a bus before 6.30am though....

And I totally agree, but how much running cost would there be, as opposed to users at that sort of time....
Back in the day buses ran with far more extended hours than they now do and were very well used. It has to be joined up tho. Penalise car use and improve bus/walk/ cycle options. It needs a proper integrated plan and implementation. Ive said it before and I'll say it again, the Dutch manage it very well, why not us? The only difference is political will.

But yes, currently the bus service is not for for purpose in stafford

You think The Netherlands and Denmark have better weather than us?

Overcrowding should be a driver of an excellent public transport and focus away from the car. Even London manages this, sort of. Its a bit disjointed and not fully thought through but there is at least some will to penalise car use, mainly due to shocking air quality, but even last week when air quality was extremely poor it was people told not to exercise rather than traffic forced off the road. We'll get nowhere with that approach and people will carry on dying.

Malta has 5x our population density, and an amazing bus network that cost €20/week for tourists to use at will (locals pay about half that). Grab a card from the machine at the airport, from the first journey you take it lasts for 7 full days so if you land at midday it runs til midday the following week meaning if staying for a week it will cover the whole time. Most routes run well after dark, we needed taxis if staying out til 3am and heading back to the opposite side of the island but you can't expect miracles.

The Netherlands also have double our population density, again great transport. If anything poor population density would be what makes public transport too expensive to run.

Enjoying a drop of red.
As has been said many times on here, the biggest problem with public transport is the public. The less I have to do with them the better.

So for the foreseeable I'll stick to walking, cycling, biking and driving, whatever suits the journey I'm embarking on.

Bit of a strange location but better than an empty eyesore I guess although it won't do anything to gentrify the area!

It only recently dawned on me that a bucket of 16 chicken legs or whatever requires the suffering in life and then the death of EIGHT chickens :( :(
I always feel the same when I put my leather belt on and feel for the poor cow that sacrificed their life....
