They've temporarily took it over before, when other managers left suddenly.

Is the Shrew a problem pub?

Half a dozen managers in a couple of years?

Rough end of town

Fisherfolk, Court Ushers, Car Tax workers, Student Drifters, Foreign Legionary, Telecom Workers, Bridal Parties, History Buffs, Buffie Saint Marie, Marie Rose, Monica Rose, Marie Sauce, RoseBud…

It's just dead that area isn't it , I don't think anywhere in towns that rough tbh.

Plus I never actually hear anyone say let's go to the shrew for one, it's too far off the track these days, and less people are going out anyway.

Youngest reckons, it's one of the more expensive pubs in town. No idea myself. It's each to their own as to what you'll pay per pint.

That’s a certainty

I’m not even sure people are able to interact in groups anymore

WFH has killed it

That and widgets in your tinned beer

Cost of Living

Mobile Phones

The perception of street violence

Money Laundering ‘shops’

Rent and Mortgage inflation

It's the closest pub to the "new" town centre so not that far off the beaten track and I do hear plenty of people saying "let's go to the Shrew".

I've seen quite a few people call in with shopping bags from the Riverside shops.

I think the biggest problem with the pub is that they don't or can't sell hot meals meaning that customers only go there for drinks.

The Cancer Research shop at Queens is open, possibly been open for some time. I found it a bit odd, not sure why though

There is a double fronted shop in Mill Street that has a load of washing machines etc in the window, is it actually trading or has it become a cats home, Its been there forever.
Not sure whether to have put this in the 'Cats' posting.

The cats are the only reason to walk past!

I think the guy just runs the shop as a hobby these days. I'm sure he's semi retired now. I don't think I've ventured in it in about 20 years.
