By closing the road to everyone except cyclists and walkers they're doing that?

"Vehicular access on to Chell Road will be prohibited during the road closure period but signed diversion routes will be in place.."
Oh, I see "everyone can cycle instead" along Chell Road, not everywhere.

It says quite clearly that Stone Road was going to be open today one-way. Yet clearly, that hasn't been the case. Yet again, diversions down Eccleshall Road and towards the Motorway junction. More than likely, it will be shut tomorrow also, as I assume the worker has gone home now for tea and he or she, would have had to go round collecting all the "road closed" signs before the morning.

What a shambolic delay these roadworks have proved to be - in all areas of the town. Also, 9 months to create a cycle lane?? You're having me on.

It definitely was not open over the weekend as they said!!

We went down as far as the lights near the Balfour Grove turning on Sunday and
the amount of work that looked like was outstanding is likely to take the works well beyond the next two or three weeks.

I'm just hoping the Market Square works pick up the baton and win the race 😂😂

Traffic survey boxes going up. Clearly high out of the way of vandals this time. What's this in aid of exactly? everyone knows Stafford has terrible everything, terrible bus service, terrible roads and a non-stop programme of building homes to make the traffic situation even worse.

The Stone Road works are shambolic. A month outside their suggested finish which always has slack built in and embarrassingly poor finishing. There’ll be loose kerb liners and potholes within 6 months.

Mind you, I wouldn’t mind being on Amey’s books. Start around 8, stand around a lot, finish by 3.

It's not scheduled to finish till the 22nd September.

When are the Redhill roundabout roadworks scheduled to start? I suppose they'll open Stone Road at some point in far future and then start digging the roundabout up. That will be lots of fun.

Thought Pets at Home roundabout would be fully open by now. But no - looks like the bollards are remaining whilst they pull up the hedgerows to possibly create a smooth footpath on the business park side. This will take 9 months.

The whole 'but not everyone can cycle' thing is only ever trotted out by people who could but won't.

To justify a guilty lifestyle.

So being disabled is a guilty lifestyle?
Could, but won't.
I'll have a go - I think the implication was that the 'but not everyone can cycle' reason is often used by people who could reduce some of their own transport impact to justify not doing so. Not that the disabled are guilty of anything, beyond being available as an excuse for others to latch onto, if that is a crime.
