It's been used before, 2020 possibly?
I 'think' that the North Avenue and St Leonards underpasses also had ramps on both sides, but the St Leonards one did not have steps on that side of the road, due to space constraints. The ramp could be quite entertaining in frosty weather, which was one reason why so many people chose to dash across the Lichfield Road there.

I hope you're right!!!
They still seem to be there on the most recent Street View.

Luckily I left early to catch the 09.32.

I had to drive to the station as the first bus is after 10.00 and whilst I was aware of the half marathon I wasn't aware that it would be impossible to actually drive to the station.

Chell Road was closed, as was Newport Road coming from Queensway except to get into Tesco's.

And Station Road was closed so you couldn't even get there via the new by pass.

In the end I had to ignore the closed signs to get to the station.

You'd think they'd be a route to get to public transport locations especially as not everyone is interested in this type of event.

Some years ago, I was accosted by two lads from Iraq who had already asked a few people where the bus station was, and been told there wasn't one. They took this to be them being given the brush-off. I was able to convince them that there really wasn't one and to ascertain where they needed to be to get the bus they wanted (by me accosting an old dear in a bus shelter behind M&S).

As we parted company at the Gatehouse, the necessary location for their bus, one of them said to me, "We're from Mosul. We've been bombed for five years and we've still got a bus station!"

I've had four nights in Northumberland to be well clear of it.
( And if you're wondering if I got in any pubs up there the answer is "Yes" )

The road closures are always well publicised and, given I live off the route, only in place for the minimum amount of time.

The route finishing at the park, and having the last mile or so through the town centre is really great for the town. The run across the bridge on Victoria Road to the finish line is much nicer than the Square.

It’s a couple of hours on an ordinarily quiet Sunday morning that brings people into the town from all over the midlands, gets people into the coffee shops and bars and gives people a reason to be active and healthy.
