The Taylor Wimpey public meeting to discuss the Beaconside road works is being held on 22nd May at 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Parkside School.
Please mark this in your diary. Letters are going out to residents however the last time ‘a letter’ went out only a few residents received it and some only a day before the event.

Good luck with any 'discussions' with Taylor Wimpey.

I attempted to 'discuss' the crazy state of the 'temporary' lights that appeared in 2017 and was basically told that it was none of my business and they'll do what they like.

My god, are they finally putting permanent lights in?

Not yet. They haven’t been temporary long enough yet. 🤔🙄
I see the meeting’s timed to coincide with rush hour. Accidentally of course
For the 'consultation' about the development around Hopton Garage, they hired Chebsey Village Hall, when there were suitable venues available in the more immediate area.

There was an atmosphere of surprise and slight disappointment when some people actually attended.

Those new traffic lights on the Gaol roundabout by the Element 5 gym. The old signal head next to the gym used to point towards traffic coming around the roundabout from Gaol road direction. They've turned this 70° clockwise so the new lights are pointing towards the traffic coming southbound from the A34. So they have 4 traffic light heads pointing towards the southbound A34 and only 2 pointing towards traffic on the actual roundabout from Gaol Road. All the other Gaol roundabout junctions have at least 3 signal heads. So this is either a mistake or intended. We may get 3 traffic signals turning green and the one next to Element 5 turning red for the northbound traffic. That will make things juicy. With only 2 traffic signals at the other stop line, drivers will have difficulty cricking their necks up to see them as they are currently positioned. I'm convinced this is an error.

In addition, the puffin nearside indicator on the crossing from Gaol road to the central roundabout isn't positioned very well given it's a 'narrow field of view' design . You have to position yourself right by the road before you see the green man, which isn't very safe at all.

Finally, noticed some new miniature traffic signals for cyclists on the crossing by Sainsbury's, something you don't really see around here. As if any cyclist is going to obey them. At least it was worth the 9 months of roadworks.

Roundabout & access road gridlocked at about midday. Looked like they’d got temp traffic lights by the service road junction.
Luckily they picked a quiet Wednesday (half day closing😁🙄)

I'm sure you'll find that those lights are achieving precisely what Highways intended.
You often make these kind of gnomic posts.

As if those 'in the know' are fully aware of the 'achievements' that are 'precisely' 'intended' by 'Highways'.

Can you spell out to a brother in need of enlightenment what those lights are precisely achieving?

What are 'Highways' 'intending' for us?

You are so 'sure' of yourself, this shouldn't be taxing, what?

If at any point in your obviously sad existence you have to travel around the town by car then you will know precisely what I mean. So stop being a dick, what?

Does anyone have any information about the A34 Wildwood/Baswich/Radford Bank summer closures? I can't see anything on the county council website but wondered if it was a day time closure only.

I saw this rather vague thing the other day, hinting at it all going on for eleven months.

Yes that's all I've seen, with no diversions or anything. I will await some official update.

Am I right in believing that these works will be accompanied by the closure of Baswich Lane at some point?

I believe Baswich Lane will be closed at the roundabout, as all approach roads are effected. 1 July to 23 Aug?
