Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I drove through Germany in 2015 and had to contend with a few roadworks. There was a warning sign about 1/2 kilometre from the roadworks, then the coned off roadworks and then a sign to say they had ended. There was minimum disruption before and after with none of the massively extended drive into and drive out of the roadworks section. Every time, we were through the roadworks in a reasonable time with minimum disruption. Everyone, and I mean everyone, kept to the designated speed limit through the roadworks.
Ever since, I have wondered why this country has such a love of long drawn-out roadworks.
