That was the subject of my first Twitter bot - something I'd done as a 'proof of concept'.

Whenever someone tweeted something with the phrase "down with this sort of thing", my bot replied "Careful now" with a picture of them holding placards.

Last week while wondering around the town on a two day visit I took this pix. What used to be the Eagle Pub. It's well over 20 years since I was in this pub, attending the funeral of an old biker mate of mine Dos Kite, who died in hospital following a motorcycle accident. It was a hell of a p*ss up.
Looking at the picture I was minded of a joke my Old Man always told when whenever he saw this pub:
"They must have one hell of an electricity bill. "

I remember telling someone, in the mid-1980s, that I had bought a cordless kettle. At the time they were a fairly new thing, though cordless drills had been around for some time.

He refused to believe me, on the basis that the batteries would just be far too big for it to be practical....
