You would think that managers/owners would realise that many of the customers would be new to their venue and would come to an opionon based on their experiences and quality of the food.
My wife went with her work collegues to the barley mow at milford a couple of saturdays ago and were very dissapointed with the food and the service. You could put it down to it being busy but it puts you off going their again.
Added to that is the simple fact that all these businesses get a massive uplift in footfall in the festive season and notably from punters who have never visited before. Eons ago i temporarily did 'front of house' for a french eaterie on the edge of blackheath in london. Anyway the owners used xmas to good effect, they gave a voucher to one and all during december giving a free bottle of wine per diner in jan and feb. 'You're mad' i said however i was disproved very soon. The place was rammed during the quietest time of the year and valentines was fully booked by the 1st week in jan............
