I know it did but I assumed you would have known of another drinking establishment in that area even when you were just four 😂
Was there not some sort of legal difficulty around the issuing of a licence to Worston Mill - related to some sort of covenant precluding a licenced premises in Great Bridgeford?

It may have only applied to the land where the 'new estate' was built, and the Mill was far enough away to escape, anyway, being in Little Bridgeford, too.

I can't remember that but don't doubt it.
I certainly don't think there was ever a pub in Great Bridgeford, maybe for similar reasons to there not being in Ilam or Bourneville or the Dog and doublet not opening on Sundays.
Apart from that licensing justices tended to limit the number of new licenses at the time Worston Mill opened.

Nipped in for dinner this evening. Place is fresher and cosier and the menu has something for all. Prices comparable and staff friendly. Feels far more mainstream than it did before but a nice time had by all.

We recently made our first visit to the new version.
Very friendly service, great value and good quantity and as we went in January there was a JAN30 offer on, with 30% off the food on the order. They also gave out some 10% discount cards that are valid through Summer.
It''s now on the list for further visits and it's changed with the times allowing online booking.
The fish and chips included a whopper that filled the plate corner to corner and the chips were probably the best I've had in a long time.
The smaller gammon plate was cooked to perfection and all was spot on.
2 mains, 2 desserts and 4 drinks came to around £43 with the discount.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Anyone else been recently? Got a meet up with friends to organise and this and the Dog & Doublet are about half way so need to make a decision.

I would always choose the Holly Bush but must admit that I've not used either for three years.

I'm not sure if we'll be eating, there's talk of a circular walk taking in the Dog and Doublet too so it depends where we are at what time.

I went to the Holly Bush this lunchtime to see how it had changed under the new lessees.
I was stood at the bar for nearly five minutes before someone appeared to serve me and then on seeing my £10 note I got "So you don't like technology then ?"
I was reminded how welcoming the Holland's were and what good food and beer they offered for many years.
I don't intend returning.
I then did much better in both of the Weston pubs.
