The Pie and Ale House

The Pie and Ale house is fantastic. The pies are utterly delicious; in fact I have lain awake at night daydreaming about tucking into one at times. I have been twice now and feel overdue for a third visit! Lovely, friendly staff make it a really cosy dining experience and the beers are great!
The only negative for me is that last time I went I had a slice of carrot cake for dessert, and it was a bit on the hard side. I like carrot cake to be moist and soft, call me old fashioned :) Apart from that, it is perfect there.

The sweet soul shining through them'

I've always been worried by the description 'moist carrot cake' - I'm not sure that I would want a cake made with moist carrots...

I didn't think it was possible to daydream at night until I went to the pie and ale house for the first time- Perhaps I could have phrased the 'moist carrot cake' in a more appetising manner though- Spongy and melt in the mouth sounds better :)

You have reminded me of the Spong mincer - the name always sounded like it had been stolen from a Goon Show script..

My mum had one of those, think it may have been the Spong 601. I remember the base was pale green.
