I went to TPH on Saturday afternoon and it was very busy downstairs and a wedding was being held upstairs.

I really like TPH. I particularly like the interior and the different rooms which all offer something different, as such I am struggling to understand why it still appears to be struggling financially.

In terms of the doorstaff, I rarely go out in the evenings now so I don't encounter many bouncers nowadays. My opinion of bouncers is quite low, however a bouncer can (if properly trained) provide a positive first impression. For example at the Swan doorstaff open the doors for you and say hello and goodbye etc. Only small gestures but it creates a nice warm glow inside and a positive first impression!

I went out with my daughter last night and we arranged to meet friends in town, every one made the effort and dressed up in Halloween costumes. We meet at butlers bell - all said, it’s the cheapest it’s away from the madness around CASA and you can always get somewhere to sit, so butlers it was. We dragged some tables together for all of us to sit around and we were comfortable and quiet happily getting drunk on proper drinks and probably would not have moved but for my daughter wanting to go to the poste house to do ‘cocktails’. I can’t believe I had to queue to get in; I have never queued to get into a pub since going to the top of the world a million years ago. The entrance to the post house was decorated with everything Halloween it looked really good and when we did get in, the cocktails and the whole atmosphere was fantastic. The guys behind the cocktail bar really work hard mixing the cocktails and they tasted sooooooooooooooo delicious. I will defiantly be going back for more when I have saved my pennies

"as such I am struggling to understand why it still appears to be struggling financially"

How long have they been closed sun/mon? I thought they were open every day but the last 2 times I've been past they were closed, checked the website and they don't open either day.

I've never been a massive fan of The Post House. People have always said it's hit and miss, and I always seemed to find the 'miss'. I've thought it was a shame and have wanted the place to do well but can only comment on what I have experienced.

So now it's nice to be able to share a positive.

Last minute and wanting to book a family meal on one of the last weekends before Christmas it was no surprise everywhere was already booked up but The Post House managed to squeeze us in for an early sitting. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing and the drinks kept flowing. I had an issue with my main, nobody's fault just a bad cut of meat and it was dealt with quickly and in efficiently. I couldn't fault a thing, even when the restaurant quickly filled up with large parties the service was still spot on.

W went out not expecting much, it was nice to be surprised, we will definitely be returning.
