The return of speed cameras.

I used to assume that UK speed limits were actually in knots, rather than mph, but even that can be a little shaky these days,

It doesn't sound very reliable.:(
It isn't. Which is why I was so very keen to change my daily car before this new technology, which is unreliable and unnecessarily intrusive, becomes mandatory.

I abide by speed limits, thanks very much and do not need nannying about it.

A black box though, that does the same as an aircraft one in the event of an accident, seems a good idea, apart from the fact when sufficient cars have them it will be used to add road pricing to the list of taxes the motorist has to pay.

I suspect speed cameras will do the same, they're anpr anyway, not a huge jump to use for charging for road use and would explain why they're often at places it's too busy to speed

Yeah some signposts are pretty badly placed, so you end up with your car thinking you’re in a 20 not a 30

Looking at you Weston Road

Left turn as you’re coming up past the two pubs, the 20 sign is a little too angled so cars that detect speed signs pick it up as for Weston Road itself
Entering Westhead Avenue there's three indications of it, painted on the road and both sides of it.

Indeed.

The adaptive cruise on my previous car always used to pick up the 30mph of the Newport Road as you drove over it on the M6 (and other areas as well) resulting in a few 'interesting moments', particularly for cars behind. That's why I got rid of it early. Fortunately the current car does not suffer this problem.
