Looks like possible stormy times ahead for The Yard.

What is happening to Stafford's night time economy?

Just to make everyone aware!! WE ARE OPEN BUSINESS AS USUAL a couple of our sister pubs in the area are being sold on unfortunately.

Hardly business as usual , if a buyer isn't found soon, they'll have no alternative but to close. The Yard is staying open atm as it's one of the few making money. No doubt it'll get repackaged and sold on as a new group though

In the company's current state , they won't be allowed any new stock either so will have to rely on all the remaining stock from the venues they've just axed. Hopefully that'll tide them over at least till New Years !

TDR Capital are a large bunch of venture types - their portfolio includes Pizza Express I think

Stonegate are their pub co and one of these pubs is the Station Hotel in Sutton Coldfield - a well run boozer so who knows..

The Stonegate Pub Co also ran the Litten Tree, so they may be interested in taking over the Yard as a replacement.

John Marwood may be oblique and frequently mystifying but I don't think he is particularly negative. Except about David Cameron.

But why shouldn't people talk about their experiences, good or bad? If I think a place is crap should I be censored? You'll hear nothing but praise for those places that deserve it, and for those that don't I shall say why not.

Like any forum what you read is personal opinion, if you don't like what someone says about your business you need to ask yourself why they said it.

Praise and grumble as long as it is an honest opinion. Tek does that and that's what makes this Forum work.

Just to return to one point made:

I do support local businesses, we don't even have a car so everything we do is local. What I won't do is subsidise a business that I feel is below par, just because they are local. When I knew the pie and ale house was struggling I tried to go more often, as I wanted them to succeed. When I knew similar of the water mill I did not, because as a customer they offered me nothing I wanted.

You either give the customer what they want, or you accept they will go elsewhere. My grievances with certain pubs are well documented on here, so no need to reiterate. Essentially I say can you sell x, they say no its y or nothing, and I say goodbye. You can't expect people to part with their hard earned cash for things they don't particularly want.

Look up threads on narvana, karma II, the castle tavern, and you will see places heaped with praise. Not everyone deserves it though.

Hello everyone, I work for the yard and just wanted to clear a few things up.
It's business as usual.
We are still getting food and alcohol stock so there is no need to worry.
We are being managed by a pub company that are connected to the administrators.
All christmas bookings are safe and we are still actively looking for more.
You will see no change to how we do things. So we can be sold.
There are company's looking to buy us, with one in particular looking to make a return to stafford.
If you have any more questions, please ask and I will answer.
