It depends which part of Toxteth you're talking about.
My Nan had a flat on Hartington Road and there was no trouble or dereliction around the Sefton Park area.
My Grandad lived in Wavertree which was also a nice area in those days but I wouldn't get out of my car around there nowadays.
Everywhere has good and bad areas and I suppose it is everyone's own perception or experience of what makes them good or bad.
