I live off Sandon Road, apparently once the site of a shoe factory. I'm a bit ignorant as to other areas as I have only lived in Stafford for 18 months. I grew up in Sheffield but would hate to have to go back there now. I find Stafford people friendly and helpful, it's not like that in a city.
ah, so you're not far from the aforementioned oxford gardens (in case you're unaware, it's the big road that runs parallel to the sandon road, on the other side of your estate)..

me & ms. dirtybobby were going to get a place on the old Lotus site - the houses look lovely and very reasonably priced.. is it a nice area to live, would you say?

It sure was....a huge hub of industry for the town.

The road at the bottom is Freeman Street, on the right is Oxford Gardens, on the left is Sandon Road and at the top is Henry Street.

I grew up on Oxford Gardens, in fact my house and the house my parents still live in is on that photo. I remember the old Lotus Factory well.

This is a good area to live, close to town and very quiet. The housing isn't that dense and the people are friendly enough. I can recommend the Posh Wash too, the bloke who owns it speaks Swahili (and taught me a little too). I would recommend the area to anyone. Peter James court is the place to be IMO, I have just moved away as I'm on my own again but for a couple it's great.

I see that Royal Dutch Shell hadn't moved in at this point either!

Always remember too - hakuna matata ;)

i lived on henry street for a while (arguably the best years of my life) so to be honest i was asking more about the Lotus estate specifically than just the general area - but thanks anyway :D:up:

what on earth is a posh wash? lol.. sounds like something you'd get in bangkok for twenny dolla :teef:

It's a laundrette on Charnley road, next to the hair place (old PO) and the shop. My friend lives on the estate, just moved there, I will ask her how she's finding it if you like? Personally I don't rate the houses, too small and tall and the walls are paper thin. Just make sure you don't move into a house with kids as neighbours!

When did you live on Henry Street, is it possible we kicked footballs at each other up the alleyway many years ago?

i am far too posh to use a laundrette.. the mere fact that one exists in the area is a +1 cuffy for me :teef:

ah right.. yeah, this is the kind of insider knowledge i'm after.. so, me mixing drum n bass wouldn't go down too well, then? lol.. plus i hate people, so wouldn't get on with thin walls at all..

Ah no, I see lol. I moved away from there in 2004 so may have missed each other. I meant more kicking a football about as kids, but alas, no. Don't think I have kicked a football since I was about 11 either.

I doub't mixing D&B would go down well. I used to live on Tixall Road and those 1920's house are sound proof beyond belief, I used to live at 64, near St Thomas Street and the Co-Op.

We love it here. Were in a 2 storey house with a decent sized garden. Good job as we have 2 active dogs!
The neighbours are great too.

Not been inside one of the two storey ones, the 3 storey ones are just too much like me, tall, thin and useless

The flats on PJC are no better noise wise so its probably just as well I didn't have room for decks.

Are you in the market for a move then Bobby? Credit crunch? Sounds like a game of 'chicken' to me :v:

The 2 storey ones suit my appearance better, short, a bit wider than I'd like and, in my house anyway, always in a bit of a mess. lol

FWIW, all else being equal and despite the fact I live on Oxford Gardens (is that not so, dirtybobby? :) ), I would vote for Castletown. Purely cos it's nearer town and similar amenities.
Having said that, it's nice to know I'm only a few minutes walk from the Tap and Spile and the Albion. :)

***** Warning, blatant plug alert *****

Get yo ass down the Kings arms instead, it's been taken back over and they're trying to turn it back into a 'real' pub. Gonna be my new local as of next week.

Lived in er.. lemme see um all of them and then some so anywhere in Stafford is fine by me , although littleworth /Tixall road was a bit of hike to the battle cruiser in the freezin winter still not too bad tho . Sad isn't it when I judge a good place to live by the amount of time it takes to get me to the pub via shank's ..shockin'
