Traffic Issues - A34, Thu 1st Dec 2011

Can anybody tell me, what, if anything happened on the A34 last night, because as I was travelling up to the Stoke game and driving through Stone on the A34 the police had closed the road from the Shell garage northbounds, and when I'd traversed the traffic-jams meandering through Stone's god-awful one-way system, and I know them quite well, and all other roads around there, I came out back on the A34 around the George and Dragon at Darlaston roundabout, where the A34 again was closed by the Police going South, so therefore must have been something huge......... any news or gossip much appreciated.....just curious.........

There was a significant robbery in Stone in the early afternoon - http://www.staffordshire.police.uk/news/latest_appeals/111201_fm_stone_robbery/ - I wonder if there could be a connection?

Whoops, that was on Wednesday - I took it to be the date that the appeal was actually issued.
