Using Adobe Acrobat to deliver information

While the full Acrobat product does not come cheap Acrobat files have some distinct advantages:

o Fast download: The first page is displayed and the remainder download in the background
o Links can be inserted to other pages and to URLs
o Bookmarks can be created to take you to other pages
o Text colour can be changed e.g. change text to blue to indicate a URL
o Fonts can be included in the resultant file meaning you don't need a particular font on your computer
o Compression is very good, the more you enlarge text, the better its on screen resolution
o Considerably reduced file sizes
o Forms can be created for data capture using Javascript for data verification (thereby reducing the load on the host)
o Files can be protected by password, change prohibition, denying printing
o Optimisation for fast web delivery

OK, I'm very confused. Ordinarily I would dismiss a post like this as blatant spam and delete the user, but two things stop me from doing that here:

A) I can't see an enormous company like Adobe using spam tactics on a small forum like ours to advertise.

B) Eckers is definitely a real person, because he/she has posted before in this thread.

What's going on? :strange:

OK. I give in, I have made 2 attempts so far to be, I think, reasonably helpful to folk on this site. It has become abundantly clear to me that this a decidedly clique based arrangement. I bow out!! I have offered to be of help to folk who might need it, now I can't be arsed, congratulations, you have won!!

Please don't bow out everyone is welcome here. I suppose you could mistakenly think there is a clique here. But by correctly writing clique and not click you've made a friend in dirty bobby ;)

As for this post, you're touting the benefits of a program we're all familiar with and saying nothing that isn't on the back of the box :p

You seem to know your stuff so why not post tips or guides? Stuff that isn't on box?

Hey Ecker, don't be put off. Your post just sounded oddly like an advertisement rather than an idea to help someone.

Usually the question (or rant) comes before the solution, so when there is a solution, such as Acrobat put before us, we don't know what to do with it.

Cheers Stafford Beast. If you have an application you think I might be able to help with, I have the full Acrobat product and would be only too happy to collaborate. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

If it is then it's not intentional as I don't get your reference I'm afraid.
Probably, I feel, a reference to Miranda, who is a bit on the tall side.

For those of us that are a bit slow on the uptake, exactly what service are you offering to provide? :) Are you offering to convert people's documents to PDF for them?

i would say so wookie, the full master collection of adobe suite gives you a hell of a lot of stuff i had the master collection for web design along side other things too but it does give the oppotunity to convert images to pdf's or documnts to pdf's and even create online forms which the person can click a button to sign and when they do it will email over that copy to you, the forms are great for if you want to have someone agree to terms and conditions etc. However i will leave it in eckers hands to explain more as they posted the service on here

No I think s/he means s/he's well versed with the whole creative suite, so hopefully some of us out there will benefit from photoshop / illustrator / flash etc. hint and tips or perhaps guides through a few head-scratching problems.

I for one welcome this!

ah not for me gdavies, thanks for the offer though! From the master collection I only really use photoshop (although being a photographer I find that I use lightroom far far more), illustrator, premiere, after effects, acrobat and occasionally indesign (because publisher just doesn't cut it) and I am very comfortable with using the more advanced features of the above.

I would welcome any other input to problems posted by people though because with anything computer relaed there is always more than one way to skin a cat. While I mgiht have no problem finding a solution to a problem, you might find a better one. an ideas exchange is never a bad thing (unless its LS, DB and I and the topic is benefits :teef: )
