You'll be glad to know I spotted as I walked past earlier that two lilac coloured plant pots now sit either side of the entrance to Vivid Ink for the disposal of cigarette ends...

A couple of weeks ago while walking into town I saw a similar thing to the original poster, so I very kindly picked up the 5 or so fag ends that the dirty individuals dropped on the floor and then made my way into Vivid Ink and dropped them on their floor and asked them to in future to use the bins provided.

I then reported the problem to Streetscene.

Yes I did. I regularly confront individuals that drop litter including fag ends. I generally find that when i do this the individula is sufficiently embarassed enough to act in a positive manner.

I advised Street scene to camp outside the Sun and Vivid Ink issuing fines to people who drop fag ends, I suggested that by spending 1 day doing this they would generate enough money to pay that individuals wages for a week. However I have no idea of whether this idea has been acted upon.

Micro dermals. I used to have three but after about three years they migrated upwards so had to get them taken out. Nice when they are in but effing painful when you have them.

Good news if they have put plant post there for the cigarette ends, i'm not complaining, but there is a bin two steps away anyway so shouldn't really be any need... hey-ho.

Agree with the poster above, too many smokers just don't see it as littering, still irks me that they put ash trays in cars but who ever uses them... except for keeping loose change in. I have been lucky enough to go to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world on my travels and nearly every one has been strewn with cigarette ends in the sand

Just seen this on the Newsletter's 'Court files' page from yesterday. Maybe a few more publicised £155 fines would have an impact...

James O’Donohue, of Cauldon Drive, Stone, pleaded guilty to dropping a cigarette butt in Gaolgate Street, Stafford, on February 28. He was fined £35, ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £100 costs.

.... still irks me that they put ash trays in cars but who ever uses them...

I use the 'ash tray' in my car. With not smoking, I use it as a litter bin.
