Warm Banks.

We all heard about this? I hadn't until today.

We're told we have the best-functioning economy in the world yet this winter there are plans for there to be buildings where people can go to be warm, ala Food Banks but for those who can't afford to heat their homes rather than those who can't afford to eat.

This is already confirmed as going to happen in some places such as Bristol.

Somewhere for poor folk to go to stay warm, whilst thier homes are left with no heating, resulting in damp. mould and burst pipes, not forgetting the increase in break in's as the scroates work out that folk are huddled round the radiator in the library.
Does anyone really think this is acceptable

Don't warm banks already exist?

I think they're called pubs, cafes and Macdonald's.
And buses, Londoners can thank Johnson for carrying on with Livingstone's bus pass system for that.

There is much talk these days of people being held in abusive relationships - this is like watching a whole country in one - and little point mentioning it to the cops, they know whose side they're on.

If only the green homes grant wasn't horrifically mismanaged a lot of people would have been warmer this winter.

It's a weird one because a world in which 'warm banks' exist alongside the energy cost crisis is obviously a better world than one in which they don't but that doesn't make the situation we find ourselves in any less a grotesque failure of government.

A world where warm banks exist while half the country still insist things are going great is quite scary.

We have older staff that come in for their shift hours earlier than they need to, they can sit in the warm canteen & *cook their breakfasts, lunch, dinner & watch tv and have some company etc.... Its been going on for years and I don't think they know that we know, it's very sad....

*we have a microwave, kettle, toaster & water dispenser..... Other (not older) staff sometimes bring in grills, egg poachers, foreman's etc, very inventive!
