What can realistically be done with the old Co-Op?

I suspect most office workers given the choice would rather work in the centre of town - I know I would. However, even though my office is in some fancy offices in the centre of Birmingham I still rarely venture in.

Personally, I find working from out of town business parks very dull because there is often limited things you can do on your lunch break or places to eat. However, i can see why businesses do prefer out of town business parks because they are usually easier to get too and there is FREE on site parking available.

If the council are serious about wanting offices / businesses to relocate back into the town centre they need to provide free parking for the businesses. Sadly, I don't have alot of faith in SBC.

The people renting the offices in the other hand do not find the town centre appealing.

The rates are crazy, the units are usually incredibly “rigid” so to speak, they’re older properties so not the easiest to wire up

Compare that to 100% rate relief in the tech park why would you ever want to rent in town? The nicer houses in Stafford are towards the tech park too IMO, unless you venture further down into south Stafford or want a new flat

And there's the Knot and Plough if you've forgotten your sandwiches.
Talking of lunches, I've noticed that a burger and chips is only £7.79 in the King's Horse. That must be better value than Wetherspoons.

The longer I spend out of the UK the more ludicrous I find the place. Most countries have public transport to help people get about, we use it as a revenue stream for the private sector. We have a bizarre situation where we carefully balance the cost of getting a train versus the cost of driving then parking, to ensure they get the most out of you no matter which way you try to go. In Riga a monthly bus/tram pass is €30, in Amsterdam there is a free ferry near central because otherwise they'd have to build a bigger bridge, in the UK it's £12 to park at the train station to get the train that costs 3x more than driving would have and then leaves you nowhere near where you wanted to be in the first place because we only run the most profitable routes!
I started a new job a few weeks ago and needed to go to the head office in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Absolutely bowled over to find a car park next to the train station where you can park all day for £3....

So it's Stafford that treat us like utter crap?

Yep! There are far more advanced places in this country. The provision for cyclists in Cambridge for example, is excellent.

You can't really compare Cambridge to Stafford though. It's a huge place, a university city with loads of parks and space. Even had cows roaming the parks when I went.

Population of Cambridge is just about double that of Stafford.

Stafford once had a university,

There’s also an entire cafe waiting for someone to take it over… given the only other option is the incredibly overpriced sandwich van that comes round

We gave it to Stoke, Stafford wants to be a commuter town only (then moans about shops shutting)
The Polytechnic was built, run and owned by the county council.

Then, it was given to the university board, who sold it and kept the money.

The best we can probably hope for is a sanctuary for white elephants.

Cambridge is also quite flat.

Actually, quite a lot of Stafford is flat. Except for Baswich, of course, which is uphill which ever way you approach it, in and out.

Cambridge residents will tell you that like Rome, Cambridge is built on 7 hills. However apart from Castle Hill you probably won't notice them.
I remember the disappointment of finding out that 'cliff' in Lincolnshire meant the slightest, indeed barely discernible, slope.

Several times passing through Shippea Hill in Cambridgeshire on the train I've noticed it to be as flat as a witch's tit.
Now can we get back to discussing what can realistically be done with the Co-op ?
