What I Did This Weekend - In Pictures!

wanna see my snake?
During the four hour journey round the ramparts of the lake, we encountered one person.

There were around 15 at the rather more accessible waterfall.

And nobody at the tower.
Sounds great! Not got out properly since Helvellyn, need to get away from everything one day soon

You’re certainly living a great life over there @Gramaisc 😃👍
It continues at the actual weekend - today's venture.

And not even there yet...

The others were moaning, but got no sympathy from the two of us that hadn't recovered from Thursday before it all started again.

This weekend we went to visit our friends in Surrey. We actually met them on holiday 5 years ago and we’ve stayed in touch. By coincidence she is also retired BA cabin crew, although our paths never crossed during our time at BA, I was working the Jumbo Jet and the 777 and Angie was on Concorde.
Anyway they have a beautiful home with views overlooking the Surrey Hills.

On Friday night other friends of theirs came over and we enjoyed drinks on the terrace followed by a gorgeous 4 course meal. We got on like a house on fire with the other couple with lots of laughter all evening.

No pictures yet as I can’t work this new phone enough to attach one ( very good at doing a Michael McIntyre type ‘ send to all’ though as I found out when I’d accidentally made a sticker & sent it whizzing off 😳🤣)

But I’m in a lovely seafront hotel in Exmouth , our first visit to Exmouth , and enjoying it .

Got a balcony room overlooking the sea & beach so enjoying my favourite pastime watching the 🐕 playing on the sands ( as well as finding a great pub serving Aspalls and ‘ Proper Job ‘ for hubby within a minutes walk of the hotel.)

After a few hard ones, today's wasn't far, in both senses - not far to the start and not far round and back.

A good crowd turned up in the nice weather. 22 in total.

Some varied terrain, but not much up and down - about 9km in total.

And, after the exertion in the sunshine, rehydration was deemed necessary.

Have you found the Grapevine Brewhouse yet? Good food and the beer brewed on site is really good too.

The Bicton and First and Last pubs are good for real ales if thats what hubby likes.

We took a train into Exeter and really enjoyed being tourists for a day. Well worth a visit.
