. I think it is a great idea both for the youngsters and the community too and just what stafford Market needs, if you go to Leeds Or Oxford markets they're packed with food stalls, some you can sit down in and others offer takeaway and a local delivery service to businesses and it's thriving everyday.
Sighhh I have so much love for both of those markets, plus the Corn Exchange in Leeds. Ahhhh wonderful places, much needed in Stafford. I can make cute things for cash ;)

Yes me too and I bargain can be had, they are always thriving too, whenever I go into town on a Saturday it is always busy, yet I can walk through stafford Market, no crowds, no queues, people must be spending their money on something for the town to be so busy! However when the farmers Market is in town it's crowded and it sells local produce so there must be an opportunity waiting to be had in the empty stalls in our Market! The foodies amongst us would flock there in my opinion.

When you send a PM it isn't saved unless you tick the box to save it...

That avoids clogging up your box, 'cos you only have space for twenty.

I'm interested in it, ben, but I'm not 100% on what I could actually do to help... but if I could do anything, I'd gladly try.

This is where my love of Bill's began, just chanced upon it and loved it, since been to one in London (Holborn) for their breakfasts and was good, though the food was a little lukewarm, the atmopshere in these places and the people that work there are in a different class.

I'd love it to go in the old Bella Pasta postition, without any taking away business of your places though of course, Chris!

I believe Stafford seriously needs more restaurants to give it critical mass - look at towns like Ludlow - you go to it because you sre a foodie, OK I'm not saying Stafford is Ludlow but the point is we don't offer the choice at the moment and with such fantastic rail and road links its just so easy to go to some great towns and cities to experience restaurants and bars.

I agree... but a world buffet and another Indian won't do that!

If Stone can manage a Mexican and Mediterranean restaurant, Stafford should too!

18 months afer thos thread was created and we still do not hae another eatery opened in town that does decent British pub grub. After Chambers closed the choice was limited to the likes of bothe Spoons pubs, The Swan, Bear, Yard, Vine and other than that it all has a foreign tilt to it.
I know that Lisa is not opening the Chambers, as muted a while ago and other than the Hungry Horse plan I think we are stuck with the out of town choices like Shire Horse etc. So many empty premises and so much of a killng to be made bu somebody!

Comes down to potential clientele. JM has always said that Stafford people are price conscious more than good taste. I personally like to try all styles. Why not a Polish ( east European) restaurant

Food places can fill up at the weekend its Monday to Thursday that they need trade. Ask yourself when was the last time I went out for a meal on a Tuesday evening?

Out of the way is much cheaper to run isn't it? I'm only guessing, but looking at rates in town versus out of town for shops there is a massive difference. Is this the same for eating establishments? Surely a good place can survive out of town as people will travel to it, only a mediocre place needs the footfall from other places nearby?

Your wrong about rates when it comes to pubs, restaurants etc as they are actually rated based on turnover so infact the higher the turnover the higher the rates - location is a factor but the primary factor is turnover - so it's LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Ah, bugger! Assumed it was like shops, but if that is the case turn Stafford town centre into a food zone and let the shops get cheaper rates on the outskirts!

I socialise regularly and as well as meeting my old boss once a month for a meal and a drink I also go out with a bunch from work regularly. We don't limit ourselves to certain nights either.
If you are in a regular routine of doing this sometimes you want another option. Some places you try and if it's not for you, you sort of give it a miss for a while thus reducing the choice. I'm sure many others do the same too.
