I went past and there was a woman in the back of the cop car screaming 'He's in there....he's definitely in there...'and the cops were looking in the river. Not a nice scene..

I've heard nothing. What was the problem with the traffic this morning? Seemed to be gridlocked around old B &Q and Tixall Road right into town.

You didn't hear it off me right!

We were rolled out to a drowning man in the river! Three fire engines, a boat from Cannock, a paramedic and countless bobbies.

Yes there was a woman, who reported a man had suffered an assaut and had been thrown in to the river by three men.

To cut a longe story short, the river is very shallow, and we could see clearly, but never the less, an exhaustive search of the area was carried out using a thermal imaging camera, drag rakes, and good old fashioned eyes! We went down to the bridge at the back of the garage and back up. The search was called off when police reported the man was banging on his door trying to get in!

Wild Goose Chase! but all in the day of your friendly neighbourhood fireman.

Anyone buying me a pint will get the unexpurgated version, and my personal opinion!

Thanks muchly for this information. I got a bit screwed up when i cycled past the scene last night, wondered what was going on, then overheard a woman screaming 'He can't be dead!' I can now rest my mind with this conclusion to the story :) Nice to know everyone involved is ok.

this is brilliant.. this is exactly the kind of non-story that would (understandably) never make it as far as the papers, but that we absolutely must know about!

and thanks to this place we get it straight from the gosh darn-tootin' horse's mouth! :buddy:

Thank you for clearing that up gon2seed. I had seen the fire engines, glad I hadn't heard the woman...

This story may appear in the Noozletter as "Man Rescued In River Drama", given their penchant for publishing the hard facts!

Wild Goose Chase II last night! Someone reported large amonts of white smoke over Castletown area at 2300 hrs. We duly arrived, as we generally do, to discover low scudding cloud that was reflecting significant amounts of light! It did look like smoke, but as we all said, if it had been from a fire it would have been the mother of all fires, a conflagration that would have consumed ST16 in its entirety, heaven forbid. But no doubt the caller thought they were doing their duty, and we did get to drive past the Railway, and I apologise if it was you sitting in the window, I was the leering buffoon, waving in demented fashion from the fire engine!

We then proceeded down the town, a quiet night, and unfortunately, we didn't encounter any hen nights, of females intent on showing us their assests.

Curiously, breast/bum/knicker flashing to the big red appliance was a regular occurance in Burton during my four years there, but it has yet to happen in 'Ford.

Are ladies too posh to flash in Stafford?
Are the women in Burton of lower morals?
Are the firemen in Stafford Uglier
Are the women of Stafford Uglier, or have assests of lower quality that they would rather keep hidden?
Would you ever consider flashing at a fire engine?

We need to know, please discuss!

PS What is going on in Castletown? Is it a full moon? Is there something in the water? We should be told, Sofa's hit the nail, Newsletter investigative expertise needed.

I think Castletown's on a layline (or leyline if you like). The mystical powers entice people into the area, and once you're here you'll never look back! Looks like they're working their magic on Staffs Fire & Rescue this week!

Of course I would flash a fire engine, it's the law!! :D

And the prisoners at the jail on a Friday night on the town, it really winds them up.
