Oooh, mum used to do cheesy jackets when I was small, I shall be adding those to the rota.

Insides taken out once cooked, mashed with butter and cheese, bacon & onions added, more cheese on top and back in the oven.

The carers cooking, I'm hoping it will be ready before 8pm for once.

That's proper that is.

Bit of a fraught day, one way or another, so scrambled egg on toast followed by apple pie that I made at the weekend.

Much wine is about to be consumed, for medicinal purposes, by two thirds of this household.

Mrs T dieting tonight so I've got chopped shallots and bacon lardons (using up) fried off then a gravy made in the pan. Diced new taters parboiled then sauteed until crisp mixed in with the bacon and onions, topped with cheese in a baking dish currently browning off in the oven.

Mediterranean roast artichokes with new potatoes and shallots tonight, followed by rhubarb crumble and custard. Washed down with a bottle of Cru Des Côtes du Rhône Vinsobres from Sainsbury's.

The carer is cooking, home made Coronation chicken flatties, in home made flatbread, some kind of Bombay style potatoes, and a made up sauce to dip/spread.

Bloom gin for me, & some bottled beer for the carer.

Mater Paneer will be made shortly, I hope. My aperitif is Aldi's gingerbread mulled wine, which may be the only hot drink I drink from now til Christmas, although that'll be a problem for work.

My tip, leave the chicken breasts whole and slice them into a fan for serving up. Chicken is more succulent and it looks nicer on the plate.
