I should think from what you've said that almost any other chippy in Stafford would be an improvement on what you're currently getting.we usually use Weston road. had some on Saturday. just not consistent in the quality. sometimes chips are good other times they're not. same with chicken kebab meat, sometimes it wanted a longer cook, other times too dry. fish there is poor, in texture and taste, but I've not had fish elsewhere in Stafford to compare with. do chip shops in general use cod anymore or is it replaced with something else but still sold as cod.
not really, everywhere is just inconsistent, and that's the problem. we have used every chippy around, sometimes they are good, then you'll go again and its not as good. there is nowhere that you can guarantee the chips will be right, or the fish, or the chicken on the night you go. it could be that the shop is busy and rushing the cooking or its quiet and been standing a while. we just use the Weston road the most as it tends to be the one we pass when coming back. northern lights the other one used, if coming back from that direction.I should think from what you've said that almost any other chippy in Stafford would be an improvement on what you're currently getting.
Dont skimp on chips? Their large chips are smaller than every other chippy in staffords small portion. A latge at any other chippy is enough to feed 2 at a minimum. At large at chris's is just enough to feed one with a poor appetite or on a diet. Id love to see his regular or small portions. I bet a doormouse would still have room for more!Def Chris's Fish bar, my local.
The cod are great value when you see the size of em. And they don't skimp on the chips.
And, its hard for me to say, their kebab meat is tasty too.
Have been using them for 30 years now, never had a complaint.
Where is Chris's fish bar please? Thankyou.
Used to use the Little Fawn - Place telephone order and collect twenty minutes later. Nicest cod ever. Irrelevant now of course.
Used to think Eccy chippy was the dog's pods but definitely not as good now that John is not at the helm.I shall continue to tootle out to Eccleshall for mine.
Do you mean Bodmin Ave ? I've not tried it for 7 yrs as whilst I will aways give places a few chances I still found it was poor, poor, poor every single time so vowed not to go back. Anyone else saying this is a good chippie now then? I might give it a try if so. Who owns it now/does the frying then?Best one by far, is the one at Baswich shops.
Windmill is probably the worst, I'd even rather go Al Karim's.
