Hi guys,
not been on here much for a while and wont be either for few weeks so i know asking for help seems a bit of a cheek. The reason i not been around is working full time, also doing a university course and was looking after my pregnant wife and young child. I say was as baby is now born so she i added into the mix. The reason to tell (bore) you with this is i have little time but many pics to share with family and friends so was hoping someone could suggest a decent site that is easy and quick to up load these pics to. Cheaper, or free, the better.

Again, sorry for not spending much time here yet asking for help but i will return at somepoint in near future (apart from checking to see if there are any replies).

Many thanks.

Picasa is free, up to a point, but that point is a long way away for most peoples' purposes. If the recipients also have a Picasa account, then they can be alerted to any changes/additions that you make. As dylanf says there are various levels of visibility that can be chosen. Captions and location maps, etc., can also be included. There may well be other similar services, but it seems likely that it would suit you.

I've been using webs.com which has a bit of a learning curve but is free and needs no other functions.

I can't remember just how much disk space you get free but suspect it will be more than you need.

Good luck....Ecker.

My communications man tells me pictures on FLickr get half inched and used in advertising

Having had a quick scan on the links page I see you can pop up 30-40 pictures on something called carbonmade in a presentation stlyee. My man says even I could manage it and who am I to disalude him. He is also wants a pay rise

I think with all photo hosting sites reserve the right to half inch your pictures. Flickr being the most well known for this due to a media incident a few years ago.

Some girl post her pictures of her holiday up on Flickr and a month later saw herself on a billboard driving down the motorway.

Thank you guys. Will have a look at your suggestions but you also raise a good point about peopl nicking your pics. It happened to us but in a slightly different way. We were at a family wedding last October and our daughter was one of only 3 children invited (the other 2 were bridesmaids) so the photographers took quite a few snaps, some very very good, so good in fact they decided without asking to use her picture to advertise their services. Not for long though. I complained to them and said i was prepared to take legal advice. I didnt get very far down that road as they quickly removed the pics from their website.

Just done a bit of research, webs.com will give you 40 megabytes of storage for free and you can password protect your photos.

I knew someone whose wedding photo was used in a shop window display by the photographer that did their wedding. It was a few years later and they were actually divorced by that stage..

Red faces all round.

Picasa does me. I can't see anybody bothering to nick any of mine, and I could tighten up the viewing circle if I was concerned.

I am not sure legal advice would have got you very far on this one

If the photograph was at a public event, a wedding, and the image showed a wedding guest, child or adult, and the advert was for wedding photography then the image was not misrepresenting anything. And as it is well known that wedding photographers have to display examples of their work it would not be seen as unusal or as passing off something that was actually something else.

At least in this case the author of the work was the one holding the image, the other cases were breaches of the Copyright Act 1988

There is a Bill dragging its way through The Lords and Parliament at the moment that may change all this, and not necessarily for the better. The likelyhood is though, that the General Election will beat it to Royal Assent

Common courtesy however, appears to be none too common and a polite approach to you may have resulted in a better outcome for all.

I hope you enjoy your photography
