It runs like a piece of.......

takes 10 mins to load up after initial start up and im just generally fed up with it.

Im completely out of the loop after a family member who was in partnership with pcdream got bled dry by his scumbag partner

Were PCDream the ones next to Weatherspoons? Remember a few dodgy things about that lot!

Anyway. I can fix them, but don't have that much time lately. I suppose it depends what is wrong, for a start I'd recommend downloading spybot. Install that, check for updates, immunise the system then let it do a scan. What anti virus do you use?

MRS B - I would offer you a complete data backup, wipe your hdd, completely re-install windows and your data therefore putting you back like new, for the bargain price of £20 (usually £30 but things are quiet so I don't mind)
:)

EDIT:- If you'd like it sorting tonight PM me your phone number and I'll contact you

Must admit i've never used WMR but he seems a top bloke and his services are cheap as chips, especially with the great feedback he gets on here as well.

I have, and I would have no hesitation in trusting his judgement. AVG is defo the way to go, and, as tek says, spybot is a good idea after it's been installed.

athlon were good solid computers tbf if you want to find out if it is ddr memory if you download siw http://www.gtopala.com/download/siw.exe

basically it is a system info tool what will tell you everything you would ever need to know about your system all with the click of a button, it will tell you what speeds of memory will work and whats the most that dinosaur can take lol

AVG is defo the way to go
I have recently (well a year ago) ditched AVG after many years of using and recommending it.

I now use Avast and I think its a lot better...

The reason I switched was my PC was having problems and it was a virus that AVG kept seeing but then wouldn't do anything about it. Worrying it got on there in the first place without being spotted.

Avast sorted the problem quickly and is a lot more user friendly / customisable / light running than AVG IMO.

Mrs B, WMR did a similar thing for us less than a couple of months ago and he very quickly and efficiently saved our computer (which we thought was totally borked) and the saved data all we had to do was re-install some programmes and have no hesitation in recommending him it was worth every penny.

A lot of peoples computers sometimes go slow as they don't delete temporary files and cookies regulary if your not already doing this it's well worth doing this to see if it speeds things up. When on the internet Click tools, then internet options, it will then give you an option to either delete browsing history/ temporary files etc..

also, go onto your control panel (from your start up bar) click Performance and maintenance, and select free up space on your hard disk etc..

when you've done all this select rearrange items on your hard disk which is also call defrag and let this run if required and it might help.

Also, if you've got a lot of photos stored this slows the computer so it's worth investing in a separate hard drive and storing them on that.
