Why do things break when you could really do without!?

Yep. Christmas is upon us and it's the worst time of year for anything to break and cost you money.

This week I've had to get AA Silencers to replace my brake pads, then last night our freezer stopped working and nearly cost us our entire food stock. Today I've had to fork out £150 for a new small chest freezer in a hurry and they say these things come in three's..........

I'll update you all on what breaks next, there's bound to be something!

Anyone else having a bad luck streak or is it just me?

My washer has started to become temperamental, it's only 10years old so grrr. Also letting agents called they've changed their policy so now we have to have a new 6/12 month contract and it'll only cost us £90-£180 to be paid by next thursday else the offer ends and it goes up to £150/£240. Just what i need this close to Christmas.

Have just had to shell out £48 to fix a dishwasher that took all of five minutes to fix - courtesy of an elastic band and that effing cat again.

At least lessons were learned.

Can I borrow your cat next ime my dishwasher packs up, I'll supply the elastic band. Bit harsh him charging you £48.00 though.

Current weather the way it is, I'm thinking I should have waited a week incase a second hand one turned up and just left the food outside to keep it frozen...

littleme, my 7 year old has been off all week. Read this today;

"Alarming norovirus headlines suggest the illness, sometimes known as the winter vomiting bug, is having a bumper year.
Norovirus isn’t new, it’s actually the most common stomach bug in the UK and Ireland and can strike anyone at any time, but you’re more likely to catch it in the winter. This winter, it’s already estimated three quarters of a million people have come down with the illness, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea, making it the worst start to the norovirus season on record.
Experts aren’t sure if this signals a particularly bad season ahead or if it's just beginning slightly earlier than usual. Records show the biggest number of cases usually occur in the second half of the winter, after Christmas."

Hopefully we can all be rid before Christmas day!

Husband always says he recons that the bug is trapped in our Christmas decoration boxs, and is released every year when we get them down (a bit like that scene in Raiders of the lost ark, where it opens near the end!) but, we havent got them out of the attic yet this year...

You could be broken like I am ... I'm confined at home with Chickenpox!
I had chickenpox many years ago, when I was eight. By that age, I had worked out that a lot of what I was told was lies - 'this won't hurt a bit', etc. I was informed that I had chickenpox, yet the main item on the news at the time was an outbreak of smallpox which had claimed several lives. I remember being convinced that I was being lied to for my own peace of mind and that 'This was it' - and then being just disappointed at the pointlessness of the struggle to get that far...
