Wi-Fi intruder

Got message up saying 'Wi-fi intruder detected'

Just clicked on settings to 'deny access to any wi-fi intruders'

Does that mean someone else is trying to use our WiFi or is it just because we have another laptop and a printer using that connection in the house?

(Son has had it up on his laptop previously and blocked it, when the only other thing working off the wi-fi was the printer.)

Not sure on your technical knowledge... but it wouldn't have been a web pop-up would it... i.e. a scam/con to get you to click something to "block intruder" which secretly meant you were clicking to download some software / a virus....?

My father in law has all kinds of crap on his PC which I regularly clean off... when asking how it got there, he always tells me he had a pop up saying a virus had been detected and to click a button to download free software to remove it....

Yes,The Panda Disk came free as part of the special offer for a year with the laptop. Came with Norton 30 day free trial but found Norton hopeless in the past and it let loads of big viruses through.Been using the free MSE on the Desktop. Wondering whether I should un-install The Panda and download that on instead????

Loaded Panda 2011 Disk and it let me install malwarebytes as well. But then on shutdown it installed Panda 2012. Then it wouldn't work when we came to re-start it . Went into Safe mode and tried un-installing malwarebytes....hey presto it started working again. So looks like it's the Panda that doesn't like Malwarebytes (Yet son has had Malwarebytes running alongside Panda on his exact same model Laptop as mine for the last few months ,no problem).

Been caught out with that before when we first got the desk top. Bought Norton & installed it but soon after got a pop-up looking very much like Norton saying that our Norton wasn't on & to 'Click to activate'............. Bang, wiped out the whole PC !

I'm unfamiliar with Panda, but apparently it does do this. However you might be blocking something that IS needed. Time will tell no doubt.

We had to take the block off to get the printer programme loaded on - when we tried to load that up it stopped it because of 'an intruder'.

Son said leave the blocks off anyway as Panda should be blocking any threats (quarantined quite a few on his laptop).

Definitely doesn't like Malwarebytes though! Must have got this laptop from a temperamental batch....first one didn't work at all and now this one being awkward.Son got exactly the same model, loaded everything up , including Malwarebytes , and had no problems whatsoever. That's why we got another one for us.

Unlikely that there's any hardware fault causing the malwarebytes issue to be honest. Install all the latest windows updates and then try installing malwarebytes again (if you haven't already done this)

I use malwarebytes SuperAntiSpyware and Microsoft security essentials and have never had a virus or any problems.

Great combination - Malwarebytes and M.S.E. look after me well too. Not used Super AntiSpyware for years now as I found that Malwarebytes seemed to cover everything that does plus more - but they don't seem to conflict so it won't do you any harm anyway.

Might get rid of Panda & stick Malwarebytes & MSE on instead when I've got time.(Hubby rushed into hosp & seriously ill so will do it when I can concentrate more).MSE & Malwarebytes worked fine for ages now on desktop. Fed up of all the messages popping up on panda.

I've used Malwarebytes and MSE since Wmr first suggested it on here - and without any trouble, despite the rather risqué searches that I seem to be forced into undertaking on the Forum's behalf...

I hope Hubby is OK soon..

Malwarebytes certainly done it's job on this desktop. Found a few that the other anti-viruses have let through.

(Still using desktop until sorted the antivirus/malwarebytes when I've got time.....got so many things popping up on the laptop claiming to be related to panda that it's driving me mad !)

Also keep getting a pop up thingy saying 'Windows 32 (or 23?) is trying to gain access to my system and will I allow access? Kept denying it access so far........ is it something that I should have or keep denying?

It could be a legit program trying to start, but if you are ever unsure then do exactly what you are doing until someone can advise you further. It's too difficult to say what it is without personally looking into it.
